Do You Have a Recliner?

Yes. I had it years before I "officially" became an old person. :) I felt I didn't make good use of it for a long time, except to rock my grandchildren to sleep (it's a rocker-recliner). Well it's decades later, they are grown and I started sleeping in that chair almost 10 years ago. I haven't been able to sleep in a bed for that long. I'd wake up aching on whatever side I slept on.

Strangely, I have what I call a "Tempur Pedic waterbed", which is actually a very comfortable bed. My recliner is slightly wider than the standard recliner. I have to flip the headrest part back, because due to my height it's uncomfortable for my neck when it's in position. The relciner has storage under the arm rests. And amazingly, my cat sometimes scratches on it and you can't even tell.

There are 2 recliners in the living room, but I've only sat in one of them. The other one belonged to my wife (now deceased). I've had company now and then, and someone will use "hers", but I don't. I only use my recliner when watching TV, since it's more comfortable than the sofa, but I'm by no means addicted to it, and never sleep in it.

We have a 2 seater recliner chesterfield in the living room. It has a center area with a lift up cover where we keep the TV remote control and that is where Squeeky our 18 year old feline Princess maintains her throne position. She has a small set of steps that allows her to get down to the floor. My Wife sleeps on the right side every night, while I sleep in another bedroom.

Our previous recliner lasted 14 years, so we bought the same name brand again this time. It happened to be on sale at 70 percent off, as that model was being discontinued by the Canadian manufacturer who are based in Kitchener, Ontario. JIM.

I have had a recliner since Mom gave me her La-Z-boy when she moved into a smaller apartment, sometime in the late 70’s. My son quickly took it over❤️

It moved with me every time I moved and retired with me to this farm, where DH promptly laid claim to it. it was here until five or six years ago when it finally, literally wore out. That was the best piece of furniture ever made. I cried when it went out the door.

DH drove an hour to the Big City where there was a La-Z-Boy store and sat in every chair they had. He said there was no duplicating mom’s 1960-something chair but he found something he could be comfortable in.

The new La-Z-Boy is comfortable, but it still isn’t the same as mom’s old La-Z-Boy. That old chair seemed to wrap around anyone who sat in it😍😍

Yes. We used to have a large one we bought used for 25 dollars from a neighbor, and it lasted us 15 years, then the spring broke a year ago and I bought a new one. I like that it rocks, so I do my leg exercises rocking back and forth, and when I place my feet up on the step, I inadvertently do exercises there, letting my legs drop on the sides, then placing them back on the step. I do it naturally, without even thinking. But it's not as comfortable as the previous one. After a long time (1-2 hours), my back aches.

I have a Lane (they went bankrupt in 2022) recliner that also rocks. It’s really old. The leather is starting to crack in places, even though I use conditioner. I would have preferred an Eames knockoff that Copenhagen (local Scandinavian furniture store) sells - it fits the mid-century house. But the cat would have torn it to shreds. Waste of $. I don’t care if he wrecks the Lane.
