Do You Have a Typewriter in Your Home ?

My 88 year old dad asked me the other day if I wanted his 45 year old IBM Selelectric Typewriter. It still works but he doesn't use it much anymore so I accepted just because I know it will help reduce the clutter at his home. I will probably never use it but I think it will look good in my office. So just wondering who still has a typewriter in their home ? And are you still using it or are you just holding on to it for whatever reason ?

Yes, I have a "Brother" electric and use it to write letters and checks.

Otherwise I write letters & notes instead of using my computer.

I used to have an IBM Selectric but wore it out. Now the "Brother" serves me just as well.

I'm happy to see that Brother still manufactures typewriters.

I have an old portable manual Royal typewriter in the attic that I got for Christmas when I started high school. lol

Had an IBM Selectric at one time, but sold it just in the nick of time. That was a great typewriter, btw. Kept the symbol ball. :sentimental:

I had an IBM Selectric that I used to address envelopes and type odd-sized items like 3"x5" cards or mailing labels.

It stopped working properly so I junked it in my last move a few years ago.

I have an antique Corona typewriter circa 1912 that I inherited from my Mother. It's from the original plant in Groton NY but is like the one Ernest Hemingway received later on his 22nd birthday in 1921. The WWl British Army used it also for many wartime documents. It continued to be popular during WWll.

I still have my old Smith Corona Sterling that I got in the late 50's for homework. I take it out every few months, and type a couple of lines to see if it still works. I've been thinking about selling it on EBAY...some of the old typewriters are starting to bring a good price.

It might be in the attic, haven't been up there in years........or.......might have sold it, I don't remember. It was an electronic typewriter.....seems like forever ago....oh yeah,...it was.

I have an old manual typewriter that I used in college. It was bought used, so I don't know how old it is. It's in deep storage in a safe place keeping other old junk company.

I've got an old manual typewriter. Don't even know if you can buy ribbons for it anymore. At this moment, the typewriter is in it's case (original case), sitting by the side door with a pile of other things ready to go out tomorrow.
