I never gave it much thought until now...now that I'm 71 and hubby is 77....about Advanced Directives or Living Wills.

I was filling out paperwork for our doctor appointments coming up with a new doctor and it asked if we wanted to decline this or had we already filled out the Advanced Directive/Living Will forms.

Do you have these for your doctor, children, etc. in case you can't make health decisions for yourself??

I took care of all such documents several yrs ago, when I made out a Will. I also make sure several people know name & number of atty, doctor, life ins co., bank, and important information so things can be taken care of.

Nope. I'm in very good health so if something happens I want the EMTs to break out the paddles and bring me back to life. May change my mind at some point, but I'm sure not there yet. .

I do have a will and trust though.

Yes, several copies, ever since a friend dropped dead at forty-seven. I was forty five at the time. One is prominently displayed on the fridge door. Carrying a three generation family tradition, I have a DNR.

Question: is it better to have a living will with a family member in charge of healthcare decisions
that you don't totally trust (or estranged from) or a living will with no one for healthcare?
