I often check the list of "ingredients" on a Store Brand, vs. the Name Brand, and usually find that the store brand is the same as it's more expensive alternative. I see little incentive to pay more for a "name".

For example, I prefer Colgate toothpaste and I also like Coca Cola better than I enjoy Pepsi.
Just personal preference. But laundry detergent, I buy whatever's cheap. I scrimp there.
How about you? Are there certain things you buy that just have to be a name brand?

Hi fun I you mentioned that. I will only use pepsident. All my life I find others too strong. And it’s only a buck. Thanks for asking. Listen I’m loaded with Colgate my daughter left them when she went home. So what else is new. Oh I prefer Pepsi’s. Coke is not sweet enough for berbun or rum. Def. me too. Dollar store brand terr. Get the one in purple. It has softener too. Who cares the brand as long as it works or taste good. Most times the store brand is better. So Chris happy day

I’m always willing to try the generic brands. I don’t have a lot of brand loyalty. Except for mayonnaise - has to be Duke’s ( a southern USA brand). Also, if using canned beans I want Bush brand.

If I ever get to the SE of the US, I definitely need to try Duke’s. Great indirect advertising by the members here.

For Canadians. Unless it’s not sale, I only buy Nabob Espresso coffee. My second choice is Starbucks. Whatever, it has to be on sale.
