Do you know why.??

In the early 90's, I investigated an accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in western PA on a very cold and snowy late night. A Ford Taurus had actually gone under the bar up to the middle of the hood. The passenger died from a broken neck and the driver was hospitalized for a long time, even after awakening from a coma. Speed and negligence were the cause. That area of the highway had been cleared and had an ample amount of anti skid material on the surface. I believe the vehicle was headed west back to Ohio. BTW, this has occurred more than just this one time, so speed can still cause a smaller vehicle to get under the bar. The bar doesn't move, but the metal of the car does. It folds like an accordion.
