Do You Like Being Your Age

For me, being "80" is a mixed bag. On the one hand I appreciate living in the times I have, and watched progress and world events go by. That said, I'm very disheartened by our country/worlds present day status, and the future looks bleak. So being "80" ain't all that bad.

That said, I fanaticize how wonderful it would be to be young and have the "wisdom" I have today (and the money too).

I normally, like being my age, but sometimes I get down,
over the previous several months, I have lost 3 very good
friends, yesterday, I got a phone call just as I sat down to
lunch, from Jane's husband, telling me that she passed
away on the 5th July, after 3 days in hospital, I am really
upset as she was making light of things, we often spoke
on the telephone, and she always said that I calmed her
down, she is calm now.

R.I.P. Jane.

Mike.
I'm very sorry to hear that Jane has passed, my condolences to you and her family. May she rest peacefully.

The Bible doesn't describe the human aging condition that leads to death as a blessing. It describes it as the negative consequence of sin and something that God plans to remove.

1 Corinthians 15:26
The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
Revelation 21:4
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes,' and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away."

My sympathies to all those who are suffering the ravages of old age and grieving for the loss of loved ones.
Sadly it's the cycle of life and comes to us all at some point . Just a shame it can be so painful in many ways in our final chapters, whenever it may be.

I like being an older person rather than 'like my age'. I've more confidence now. I can approach anyone whereas when younger I was self conscious and shy and found it a struggle to find any confidence.
I feel accepted now for who I am rather than when in younger days feeling judged if I didn't follow the trends.

I let my silly side out often, and quite enjoy doing things wrong on purpose.
People think older people are forgetful, a pain in the backside or eccentric - I'll be a daft old bat soon enough anyway, so why not act like it now and have a bit of fun with it.

There is nothing wrong with death, it is a ploy that preys on people’s fear of death. what’s wrong with crying? Pain I get, these things are all negative aspects of the human condition not to be feared or avoided.

Nothing stays the same. Everyone's time runs out, here. We really do not know what happens after. Whatever it is, I guess we all will find out. Sometimes I do wonder how long my body will last. Now is the age you here most people start dying more. That does bring the final hour closer.

Sin is BS, so are the consequnces of sin. I believe because life is better for me. Not to avoid pain, death or punishment I blieve because I choose to. You are free to believe anything you want. It does not change how I feel about myself.
