Do You Like Being Your Age

There's things I like about my age. Being retired, living life at a leisurely pace, being financially secure, I'm calm and relaxed most of the time.

Things I dont like have to do with my aging body, loss of muscle, loss of endurance, I even notice some loss of brain function, I just don't like looking and feeling like an old person.

As for my age, I’m not really crazy about it. But as someone who cannot afford nor do I have space for a home gym, a private pool, a private trainer, an in-house nutritionist and cook, or human growth hormone injections, I pretty much have to accept where I am now.

Do you like being your age?
I'm 78, and there isn't a hell of a lot I can do to change that. I think you should try to be as fit as you possibly can. But I don't think it's healthy to hopelessly grasp onto any vestige of youth, because you can't cope with the number of candles on your birthday cake.
OP did not ask if we are hopelessly grasping "onto any vestige of youth".

That’s different, IMO, from simply saying “i’m not crazy about my age”. “Hopelessly grasping” means you’re having a facelift, boob lift, liposuction and still buying your clothes at the Mall Boutiques if you’re female.

I agree. I think most older women simply want to look good for their age rather than significantly younger.

75. Age is just a number? Tell that to my aches, pains & 2 bouts of cancer. Oh, and blood clots in my legs that seem to require surgery every few years. But my mind is ok, except it doesn't care about planning for a career or getting laid. Well, the last one, maybe, but there are no takers, and met no one I would give it to.

Other than that, I'm doing better than fine. I finally understand My Life. In retrospect now it all makes sense.

I'm broke but financially secure. That will probably be true for the rest of my life, and due to physical reasons, I'm not planning any more vacations. So, I have seen what I will see. The rest I'll just have to rely on photos, movies, and imagination!

No one is bothering me anymore. No deadlines, or stuff that must be done at a particular time. No one is bothering me but me.

I have always cared about my friends, here we are just a few
words on a screen, to each other, there are some pictures, but
I see you all as friends, I will be upset if you go, each contributes
to others and in that way we like one another, although we have
yet to meet.

To all, stay safe, please.

Mike.

I just saw that scientists with quantum physics believe death is just an illusion.
Might I add that your life is just your illusion for 80 / 106 years. haha :ROFLMAO:
How lucky have you been so far?

The other day one was talking about blow out veins with intravenous stuff.
Rule number one don't get any unless you are dying. If you notice your forearms
are going to Pott, rub walrus's oil, loggers skin salve on them.

Thank you all for your replies, it looks to me that
we are all in the same boat with the same losses,
death doesn't care who it upsets, does it?

That old saying, "Only the good die young", this
is true in many respects, I think that it applies to
my recent loss, even though she was in her 70s,
still makes her young in years and definitely young
at heart.

Mike.
Sorry to hear of your loss Mike. I lost mine one morning in September 2017 suddenly.
I am now remarried and happy except for certain days of the year. Memories. Best
of wishes for you.

8. Don't wake up dead tired.
9. Exercise so to sleep dead tired.
10. If you got better stuff try it. (If you rub your feet with the other foot or the mattress covers & you can wear yourself out with 2000 or so.

true... but 237 people is a very low statistic in almost 70 million people...;)

Would you want to live to a hundred, HC ?...
My fantasy would be to emulate my late maternal grandparents. Their daughter, my mother, died young, she was in her early thirties. Grandparents lived a long distance away in an era when car ownership was still rare, we hardly ever saw them.
For much of their lives they only had one another, they passed away within three months of each other, in their mid-nineties, after seventy-seven years of marriage.
Grandfather died first, we all say that Grandmother died of a broken heart. My wife and I face the same future, one of us is going to have to tolerate crushing bereavement. I don't really care what age I live to, all I ask is to keep most of my faculties. To have a care assistant wipe my backside after pooping just fills me with dread.

I like being my age, except for the inevitable that you pointed out. When we live this long, we are going to experience losses. I'm so sorry you lost 3 of your friends. I know how that feels. My condolences to you and Jane's family. May she R.I.P.
