Do you miss incandescent light bulbs?

You know what, though? You can get LED bulbs that are frosted, and they have a nice, warm glow. There's colored ones, too. The one in our bedroom gives off a subtle rose color.
The manufacturers have the color (K meausrment) pretty good now. I really didn't like them at first, but I'm happy enough now.

Here's a remarkable anecdote, too.

One of our buildings we bought in 2017. I was till able to go up ladders, etc., and I replaced all interior common area lighting with roughly 100w equivalent LEDs, 2700K color.

The fixture NEVER are switched on/off; the master switch is in the maintenance room. This may be a factor.

None of the roughly 12-16 have failed yet, and they were just normal ones I bought at the local Krogers.

YEOW!!! Warms the heart of a tightwad...

Many people have issues with migraines when in LED light. My daughter is one. From a site explaining it:
"But what you might not know is that LED lights can cause migraines and headaches. The reason for this is that LEDs emit short wave, high energy, blue light. This type of light is known to cause headaches, migraines, eye strain and fatigue."
Wow. I've tried to figure out what is causing my headaches. I'll have to check that out.

During the switchover, I found incandescent bulbs lasted much less longer than previous years

YES!!!

Without doubt, at least in my observation.

It pushed me towards LED throughout
They seem to last forever

But

My concern is the macular thing
I do have macular degeneration

Everything on me is degenerated. I don't even try to keep up any more.

In fact, you know the old saying:

"THe spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."

Well, it's gotten to the point where both the spirit and the flesh are weak...

"So it goes..."

;)

You may want to consider a few thousand going out to an optometrist later on. Hm?

I just hit myself in the forehead! AMAZON! OK, Thanks, I assumed they would no longer be for sale on there so I didn't look!
Yes, THANKS! I just bought a bunch of them on there and put more in my cart! DUH!!!!

@Murrmurr, I understand even the pink and frosted ones emit a radiation, a radio frequency that can do a lot of damage to your overall health.
I'm more concerned about having perfect eyesight into old age though. My vision is so important to me!

This place has more bulbs of all kinds than I have ever seen.

The lady who owns it it older than me, and she's pretty weird, but definitely knows the products.

You're very welcome. It's because of your post that I found out even the sale will be banned... it's like to heck with people who have eye problems or migraine problems.

No, and also:

Breaking an LED light bulb will not spew out any harmful toxins. I’d be much more worried about CFL & florescent tubes. It’s true there are trace amount of lead & arsenic in a LED and or it’s electronic components but it’s no more dangerous than any electronic device. It’s only a problem if you take these components and grind them up into a fine enough powder that they becomes air born. Otherwise they’re not going to get into your body – well maybe if you eat them.

The Blue light can be an issue & many manufactures are taking steps to limit it. As everyone should know white light consists of all the colors in the visible spectrum including blue. Without it you get yellow-greenish light. Incandescent light bulbs produce blue light also, its the only way to get white light.

Beside light bulbs LED’s are used in our phones, TV’s, monitors, cars and just about everything that lights up. I would try to limit background screens to something other than blue.

When my LED light bulbs quit working I cut them open and save the LED chips inside because they are damn good & I use them in other projects. When they burn-out it’s usually the power supply and the LED chips are still good.

Anyway, I’m all in for LED light bulbs except the ones that don’t last.

I bought a bunch of the old bulbs years ago, still have plenty left in the basement. I do prefer the LED bulbs now, much brighter and last a long time. Great for ceiling fixtures or outdoor porch lights. So I use both,,old ones for small lamps. Replaced my long fluorescent bulbs in the basement years ago with LEDs, haven't had to deal with flickering and burn out. I like maintenance free, or mostly maintenance free.

I'm very sensitive to LED lighting. It feels like my pupils are being lasered when I look straight at LED lights, especially when driving at night (while I'm a passenger .. I don't drive at night).
