Do you really want to share your birthday on Facebook?

So, this all happened because my precious, deceased mother's birthday came up on Facebook for January 14th. My cousin created her Facebook page and I now have to figure out how to delete it.

I was talking to a good friend who said she had deleted her birthdate because she didn't want to get 150 people that she barely knew wishing her a Happy Birthday, only to have to thank each one of them. That made me realize I needed to do the same.

I went into Facebook and made my birthday visible to only me. So, unless you want to receive Birthday wishes and have to respond to multitudes of people that you haven't seen in years I suggest you do the same.

I had to delete my Facebook account after it was hacked, once requested will take 30days though, in case you change your mind during this period.

How do I permanently delete my account?
Before deleting your account, you may want to log in and download a copy of your information (e.g. your photos and posts) from Facebook, and a copy of your Oculus information if you use your Facebook account to log in to Oculus. After your account has been deleted, you won't be able to retrieve anything you've added.
To permanently delete your account:
  1. From your main profile, click
    account
in the top right of Facebook.
  2. Select Settings and privacy, then click Settings.
  3. Click Your Facebook information in the left column. If you have Facebook access to a Page in the new Pages experience: Click Privacy, then click Your Facebook information.
  4. Click Deactivation and deletion.
  5. Choose Delete Account, then click Continue to account deletion.
  6. Click Delete Account, enter your password, and then click Continue.

Taking down your birthday on Facebook is a good idea,. Of course there's only 1,580 other sites that have it. FB is a mine where anyone can extract personal data for any purpose. That's one of my two griefs about FB. The other is I have three friends, who continually post stuff to me. They don't even come up for air. I get an avalanche of "interesting sites". No, I don't want to watch an hour long sunset over Mount Fuji, Japan., And I can live without knowing every detail of the life cycle of the emu.

I hide my birth date to make it a little more difficult for someone to steal my identity.

On the internet, if date of birth is a required field I use a fake date.
I am glad i am not only one that does this have done it since i went online have my online FAKE dob ....................and my real one is just for me and family that already know it.
I tell people to not wish me happy Birthday ......... even texts on my real DOB
as calendars on phone tries to remember it when i sent b-day greetings etc.

Yes, I keep meaning to do that!

I refuse to give FB my DOB or phone number.

Not FB, some other site recently insisted they had to have my DOB before I could proceed. Fat chance they were getting the real thing.

I never give my DOB any place that will send birthday wishes.

No, I don't want to share anything on FB. I don't even have an account. That's how much I don't want to share on FB.

Bella ✌️

Do you really want to share your birthday on Facebook?

I don't have birthdays anymore, I've had too many of them, and to share them on the face of a book, the back of a book, or even in the middle somewheres seems a bit daring.....I'll pass....😊

Gee, I don't think more than three people wished me happy birthday on Facebook -- and it took me a couple months to think to log onto it and oh dear good manners are always a mystery to me, was I supposed to thank them, I probably clicked 'like'.

I don`t believe you can delete anyone`s account unless you have their login info. I did recently see a post stating that you can designate a person to delete your account in case you pass but I haven`t looked into how you do that.

My DOB is hidden on FB. It's very easy to do so that only you see it. People know it anyway so WTH.

My Facebook account shows my birthday with the wrong month and day, and the year makes me 120 years old. :)
