Do you remember L'il Abner?

Yes, I remember Lil Abner, and the sexy Daisy Mae. Another old one that just popped in my head was Gasoline Alley. :)

Yes I do, but hasn't that strip been gone awhile? The website was not clear on that. The strip had more characters than most.

Found the answer "Al Capp created the Li'l Abner strip in 1934. He continued to write the strip
until 1977 when it was discontinued. The daily strips are currently being
reprinted in various local town newspapers across the country as well as over
the Internet. "

I guess it was because I was a city boy but Lil' Abner never really appealed to me - although Daisy Mae WAS easy on the eyes. Growing up I was more into Peanuts if I was reading the comic strips. Mainly though I was a comic book reader ...

I also liked "B.C." by Johnny Hart who (I just found out) was also the co-creator of "The Wizard of Id" (another of my favorites). These days it's "Dilbert" that touches my soul.

Those comic strips of days gone by are a real trip down memory lane.

Archie and Veronica, Girls in Apt.3G, Blondie and Dagwood, Maggie and Jiggs, Beetle Bailey, as well as the aforementioned. As a kid, I couldn't wait for the Sunday paper for the funnies.

Li'l Abner was not a favorite of mine, but as I got older I did read it some. I think they made a movie based on the comic strip. Did anyone see it?

Beetle Baily, Blondie and Dagwood were also my favorites. Ozarkgal, do you remember the 1930's (or 40's?) Blondie and Dagwood movies? I loved them - lol

I like the Dilbert cartoons because I worked for power generating engineers for 17 years and also because Scott Adams was an engineer who got laid off.

Guess he showed them. I think Toby Keith's "how do ya like me now?" is appropriate - lollol

I loved reading Little Abner when I was a kid. They had just the coolest ever characters and critters in there....... Schmoos....I loved Schmoos ! I eventually discovered Silkie chickens, and they look just like A Schmoo.
And then there was the Hammus Alabamus. Anytime we have a ham at our house, I still call it that. My favorite character was the strange little Indian guy with the unpronounceable name : Joe Btf#*~sp$t, or something along those lines. He drank Kickapoo Joy Juice. When my kids were growing up, and I was trying to make a healthier drink than plain koolaid, I mixed it with ACV and honey, and we called it our Comptons Joy Juice, in honor of the cartoon drink.
Dondi was another favorite of mine , but I never cared for Little Orphan Annie, for some reason. Winnie Winkle was a favorite, too. I looked forward to the Sunday paper every week.

Anyone remember the Katz and Jammer kids? I can't remember the Captains mane or the kids although one might have beem Hans. One of the kids was riding a bike with no hands. Look mom, no hands. So the mother tried it and ran over a cliff. The brother yells, look Hans no mom.....kind of stupid right. Guess that is why I liked it.
