Do You Set An Alarm Clock

Do you set an alarm clock, even if you don’t have a specific reason to be up? Any particular radio or music that you use?

I’ve been retired for 20 years yet I still set an alarm on my phone. Even if I need more sleep, I try to keep to my standard hours allotted for rest. Almost always I’m awake before it would go off. I like knowing I won’t oversleep.

I waken to Johnny Reid’s This is not Goodbye.

For other things like taking meds, I use Corin Raymond’s There Will Always Be a Small Time.

I still set an alarm 5 days a week for work. My days off it depends on whether or not I have stuff to do. If I do then I set an alarm. Otherwise I wake when I wake. Sometimes I need the extra rest and I'm fine letting my body take 12 hrs if it needs it.

I usually just set my digital clock and my phone alarm as a backup.

Sometimes I do. On garbage nights if I think I may not be up when my son gets up to go to work (2:30 a.m.), I'll set the alarm so I can make sure the litter box is cleaned and prepare the garbage for him to set on the curb. He'll do it if I'm asleep but I like to do it. Most of the time I'm up that time in the morning but a few times I was apparently too tired.

I also set the alarm when I go down to the laundry room so I can be there to take the clothes out after they finished washing. Since I go down there in the middle of the night, 99.9% of the time nobody else is down there, but I do it anyway. I also set my alarm when it's time to order an Uber for an appointment. Time gets away from me, so I need to do that.

I only set one now if I have to be up earlier than I normally get up. Days of an appointment or whatever plans I have. I use the clock on my cell. More often I find I wake up an hour or so before the alarm

I usually awaken automatically driven by years of work conditioning, but as insurance I charge good old Alexa to sound the alarm if I have an early morning appointment… ⏰

No, I never need to set an alarm for a wake-up time since I wake up around 3:00 a.m. every morning (no matter how late I go to bed). I use the alarm on my phone for appointments during the day, both mine and Huzz's since he's forgetful about them.

On my android phone I have one set for every 4 hours during the day. I take 1800mg of Gabapentin a day for Peripheral Neuropathy, 300mg six times a day. Sometimes I even space out after the alarm and forget...further adjustments are necessary. :)

Only when my sleep cycle is erratic and I have a doctor appointment or something. If rushed I might arrive unshaven or without pants.

However I have taken to wearing a nightcap during the cold months. Like the Sneetches with No Stars On Thars, I have a hair insufficiency cross to bear. I bring it up because somehow last night my cap disappeared. I'll have to strip the bed and it's an excuse to clean under there anyway. I hope I didn't eat it.

When I was working my alarm would go off around 5am,listen to NPR/local news as I was getting dressed
I no longer need an alarm, I'm still an early bird, I wake up around 5:45-6

Not any more. While working yes. One of the freedoms of not working is dealing with the day based on when you wake up, rather than announcing a start time.

I am usually up by 6 AM, that changes to 5 AM during Feb/march. That is when my most lambs were born when I raised livestock.

But the heater man said he will be here early tomorrow so I will make sure the alarm is set for 6 AM. Just in case,
He cleans the heater every year.

I overslept one morning to 7 O clock, many years ago, and woke up to see my black angus steer and one of my beef heifers strolling down the gully next to my road. Somehow they got out through the gate. But all I had to do was shake a can full of cracked corn, and they came right back into the pasture. I think I had turned off the electric fence by mistake.

Livestock seems to intuitively know when the electric fence is off- and it needs to be off if it needs repairs.

I only set my phone alarm if I want to get up at a certain time which isn't that often lately. I also set it if I have some appointment to go to.

I don't like to oversleep either. Morning is my favorite time of the day. I do want to sleep late my first day off after working however because I don't want to feel the need to take a nap later.

I do set the alarm on days I work of course. Today I wanted to go feed the ferals early because it's gardener day. Though I'm not sure they have been in the last couple of weeks judging by the leaves. I had it set for 0530 but woke up at 0510.

Yup, I set my alarm clock for 7:45 everyday. But I'm a heavy sleeper, I'll sleep right through the ten minutes its beeping; or usually, I wake up before the alarm goes off. I don't know why I set my alarm, but I do.

No, not sense I retired, eight years ago...

But, I still wake up exactly at 6:00am...
