Do you think people are mostly nice or mostly mean?

I don't think people are "mostly" nice or mean. We are all a mixture of many traits, many of them appearing on the same day. It depends on the circumstances we are living in.

And I agree with the "screw loose" philosophy. Anyone who is always nice, or always mean, is out of the bounds of what we would call a normal person.

But the original question was "mostly." Probably some people are pleasanter, more friendly, etc. than others. But this can change over time. Usually there is a reason that people are the way they are. I don't think we are born with a "nice" or "mean" stamp on us.

You just described me. I'm normally easy going, polite, patient, etc. but if I hit a breaking point...let's just say you don't want to be on the receiving end.
I think most people fit into that category ......
unfortunately there seems to be more and more people ........that want to push people to that breaking point.

I have found people may be more guarded then they once were.....
prepared to encounter anything..... that may look like less then nice....

I think people are naturally nice but not nice if they are frightened and become hateful and don't have to see the actual people they hurt. Also not as nice if stressed or not getting enough sleep.
I like to watch YouTube videos of social experiments where someone pretends to be in need and strangers help.

Unless mentally ill I think everyone has kindness within and is capable of showing and sharing goodness with others. At times it depends on the circumstances. Notice during disasters how many will come to the aid of those suffering ..but of course, there are also some who abuse the vulnerability of others.

Have you ever noticed how some people visit another country and complain about how mean the locals were there, but then someone else visits the same country and says the locals there were all nice?

Mostly, it depends on how we treat others. If we are disrespectful, snobby, act entitled, and mean then we can expect the same in return. If we are nice, they will be nice...though there are exceptions of course.
Lovely to see you again, Lara. You've been missed.

I agree totally..and we need to remember sonetimes we misinterpret others reactions..could be they are preoccupied with something bothering them and they react uncharacteristically.

Most people are so paranoid, that if terrified, they will join together with a mob and kill whatever is scaring them.
I agree. I thought of the "mob mentality" scenario. People can act very different alone than they will even with one other person.

In answer to the original question, I hope it's nice.
