Do you think Senior Forums is like the Hotel California?

Don't Know! Can't say, since I never have been to nor ever seen the so called "Hotel California." However, I do not like the song as when I was in Thailand it seemed like every restaurant played this song over and over until I got sick and tired of it. Apparently, no restaurant owner in Thailand ever heard of any other song in English other than this "Hotel California."

I guess it's like Marilyn Monroe or James Dean. Both are "hard to kill."

I think the human mind just likes mysteries. Hitchcock capitalized on that, and it worked pretty well for him. The Birds, Rear Window, North By Northwest, Vertigo, Psycho, Dial M For Murder, and a slew of others.

Its good to know you have a twin out there who has to mow his yard on Saturday afternoons. ......:ROFLMAO:
Yeah, he's a "rock star".
But how many posts is the twin up to, now?
(Asking for a friend)
🙃😄☺️
Afraid to look. It will remind me of just how much time I have spent here instead of doing other stuff I probably should be doing.

having priorites over a certain age becomes meaningless - just recently I find that my world or at least my perception of it seems to be speeding up and I am very concerned about where I am heading and why?/

What? There's other stuff needing doing?:unsure::eek:

Oh well, we are all very glad you spend time at SF,

@bobcat48 !😊
Ha ha. When you own a home (Or it owns you), there is always something, but I learned discipline in the AF, so it has always stayed with me.

As for the compliment, thank you, you're very sweet. The humor and interesting thoughts never end here. It all kinda reminds me of Seinfeld's show about nothing (Probably won't make sense unless you watched it). There is no theme here, or plot. It's anything goes, so you never know what to expect. Btw, you are a pleasant surprise as well. Always great comments.

wot thread is this - the science one? - where we are all goin in space?? - are we declining as a human race/space ? - thank god for Hotel California - put it back on the turntable hun - No no not that one we only have one in the house remember?/

Well, for me yes! For several months after I joined, I didn't think it would be so, but I stuck around and began to explore more categories of threads. I had joined initially by invitation from someone who did wind up leaving. Apparently a few others decided to leave too over the years. I zeroed in on the Financial threads in the Retirement section because I was fascinated that people discussed one of my favorite subjects so openly, plus I didn't even realize there was much beyond that because my computer's zoom feature was on and I didn't see the other categories for the longest.

I also thought there were too many people on the forum to be able to establish real connections, but alas I was wrong. The more I participated, the more hooked I became. I now spend waaay more time here than on Facebook but it used to be the other way around.

Of course more true for regularly active retired senior members with open time to do so. I won't ever be in that category because I am too involved in so much else. Thus a bandwidth reason I also don't allow myself much time for TV, movies, or video games so many spend time on even though am quite aware such potentially would be entertaining for this person too. For example, the previous 6 days was backpacking into the High Sierra and during winter am often up at Tahoe skiing for days. Much more. Purposely for this person, this board is an ordinary communication realm I can point any others I meet to that are carrying smartphones, in order to provide a sense of how I think over a wide range of common subjects including writing and interpersonal skills. Likewise use other WWW web Internet sites I can point strangers to that show other impressive skills and knowledge. In the past, loose BS talk between strangers has been easy though with low trust, but in this era I can make instant amazed believers by just providing a few links.

"Hotel California" came out in the late 70s. Back then, it was a trend to have lyrics, which hinted at deeper meanings to songs, but they never were. People wrote stuff like "yeah I looked through a window and surprise what I saw, fairy boots are dancin with a dwarf" Black Sabbath- a truly deep intellectual song.
And are you saying we are like lemmings drawn to S.F.? Just because most of us have over 10,000 posts in Senior Forums doesn't mean a thing. Now, I have to check out Hot Topics and Relationships.
Huh. Interesting. My old profile and all was there but looks like they made my message count restarted at zero because with the way I yak there's no way that includes my previous count. I've been docked my old posts. That'll teach me for leaving for ten years!

This morning I said I'm going to blow off SF and write on that loooong (spanning a century and a half) family saga I affectionately call a soap opera that's so close to being done but yet here I am. 🤔 Is there a 12 step program?

The soap opera's so close to done. (Seriously long. It's my swan song. I've decided when I'm done with it, I'm done writing (except when inspired to write a poem) but it's several thousand pages long because I finally decided when no one's reading it but me- parts that have been written into three separate novels excepted from which the soap opera comes - I can get into as much minuta as I please.)

I may or may not be kidding myself with the being done writing thing. I do not recall a time in my life when I wasn't making up stories. Before they taught me to read and write, I was making up stories for my little sisters. I do find myself gravitating towards poetry more in my old age. Er, I just went off topic, didn't I?

Blaze...it could be because we moved from the previous forum to this one several years ago...
