Do You Watch Local And/Or National News?

Most mornings, during the week, we will turn on the tv in our bedroom to catch the weather forecast and local news. During the day, I will also check my iPhone for local and National news. We don't get depressed over watching/hearing about crime in our area or other areas of the U.S.. Sometimes we wonder "why" this or that happened, but that's about it.

For us, we want to know what's going on. Some people say that those that don't care to watch their local news are those who want to "keep their head in the sand about it". However, I do know that there are people who can get depressed over watching the news. Actually, I had an old friend that told me, "if I ever want to be depressed, all I have to do is turn on the news". To us, crime is just a "reality", but if it comes close to where we live, we could think differently about it.

So, how do you feel about watching the news?

I watch both. I like to know what's happening locally as well as nationally. Then of course theirs globally.. Heck we could watch the news 24/7

I dont care for local news anymore,it seems most of their advertisements are directed at themselves.

"Watch Channel 9 for up to date news, weather, sports." is said at lease 25 times an hour.

I catch parts of the world news during the day on Fox or MSNBC, my husband usually flips back and forth between them when he reads him morning paper. In the evening during dinner, we'll watch the local news together.

I listen to the news most of the day on national radio and by the evening I already know what will be on the TV news. Radio is more immediate. I tend to concentrate on national and international news and catch up on state news via the online outlets.

We watch the news a lot. We don't really have local news but we do watch BBC Scotland news which is on for 1/2 hour every evening. Otherwise, it's 24 hour BBC News. Sometimes we watch CNN International.

We like to keep up on UK politics, especially my husband.

I wake up late mornings and usually go over to CNN right away to see what could be happening. I watch the start of the late local news when I'm home.

I watch ABC evening news and the local station for local news. I listen to the radio throughout the day or check happenings on my computer. As soon as the election is over next week The 2016 Presidential run will start and I'll watch much of that. And of course I'll be up for Tuesday's election.

I check the major news outlets' websites a couple times a day for news. I can't stand all the commercials on regular TV anymore, and the cost of satellite and cable TV went up so much that I "cut the cable" a couple of years ago. I watch other stuff via wi-fi internet services like Netflix, etc. and my blueray player. Not much worth watching on TV nowdays anyway.

I was subjected to several hours of daytime TV a week or so ago when I took my niece to the ER and they had it on in the waiting room. GAG! Not to mention the endless "he is a bigger rat than I am" political ads.

I like to be in touch with the news. I only watch/listen to the BBC, where there are no ads, thank goodness.

I watch both local and national news on TV in the evening. .. some days I wish I didn't, but it's become an everyday habit with me.

Here is the news.
Good Morning there were two murders today.Six rapes and a terrorist attack.
This is why I do not watch.

I've just about quit watching TV news, unless there is something specific that I'm interested in.

I'll watch the election returns closely Tuesday.

Not only are we bombarded with TV ads, the phone ads are even worst. Can't sit down and enjoy a meal without phone ringing.

We record the commercial channels so we can forward wind the ads. Thanks goodness for the BBC and the mandatory TV licence which ensures there are no ads on their channels.

I agree..there are no commercial breaks..but breaks they do have..showing you clips of forthcoming programs..over and over again..
