My TV is on a lot. And I'm amazed that some don't even have a TV. And then, there's how much of a TV nut are you. Can you get by with over the air TV with 4/5 channels at most? Then there's basic cable. Expanded Cable TV. And for the hardcore TV nuts there's HBO, Net flicks, etc.
Do you watch TV? and how much?
Fuzzy,
When my wife passed (4+ years ago) I had to downsize all of my entertainment I was subscribed to. Gone was
DirecTV (after over 20 years),
SiriusXM in my car,and all the premiums I had. A few months later, my rural community got fiber optic internet and the cord was well and truly cut. Acquired
Roku at first. Then, after my heart attack and open-heart surgery, I realized that my life was never going to be the same. I also realized that TV was soon to become more important to me as physical activity became harder.
I decided that I needed to replace my ailing 55inch TV with what would likely be the last TV of my life, so I shot for the moon. I now own a 75inch top-of-the-line television. I now stream all things. No OTA (too distant), no cable, no sat. I have become a
YouTube addict! Watching on such a large screen is really nice. There is such a wide and rich thickness of subject matters on YouTube, there is never a lack of something interesting to follow down the rabbit hole.
My TV utilizes
GoogleTV which was a first for me. I now prefer this OS as opposed to
ROKU (which is still hooked up as well.) I watch big movies and will occasionally actually rent one via
Prime. I have enjoyed
Reacher recently. I also subscribe to
Netflix, Paramount, Peacock,
MAX and
Discovery. I have been rewatching
The Big Bang Theory (hilarious for my generation). I still will occasionally watch a
Star Trek episode (all series.) I'm a sucker for dog videos or dog-centric movies. I used to be a horror fan but I don't care for the violence anymore (even though the novels I have published are hardcore.) I love most SciFi stuff. Don't care for comedy movies, yet I like a few sitcoms and I love standup specials.
However, from about 8pm on, I am generally perusing YouTube. I often stay up to 2 or 3am. I could sleep earlier, but I confess that I love being awake when I know most of the world nearby is asleep. It gives me a sense of solitary peace. My Emma (Chi-weenie) has adjusted nicely to my schedule. We are copacetic.
