Do you watch TV?

I do watch tv but only after 6 pm. Local for weather and Roku for anything else pretty much. I like NCIS and a few other things. Before I go to bed at night I watch The Golden Girls. It is silly, ridiculous, unreal and funny as can be. Puts me in a relaxed mood and I sleep well.

No cable TV any more, and I only watch OTA when severe weather hits (if reception is watchable).

I have a Roku TV for BD/DVD, streaming from "outside" or from my own media server that holds a lot of old movies and TV shows and music. It has an OTA TV tuner, but as I said I rarely watch that source.

Usually when I'm using the PC my second monitor is playing a YouTube video. A lot of cranks here try to deprecate YouTube, but there is a ton of useful, educational, informative, and entertaining content there.

Often after dark I'll light the patio firepit and watch videos on a tablet set up on a speaker/stand. Or take a radio out there to play music.

It's pretty rare for me to watch video or play music on my phone.

I believe that staying away from the mainstream media broadcasts, especially cable, fends off derangement from their constant barrage of alarmism. As far as I can tell cable is losing subscribers hand over fist, which is probably a good thing for society.

Yes . My wife wanted an 86 inch LG smart TV so we have an 86 inch smart T V. My wife wanted no ad streaming of Netflix, Peacock & Hulu we have those. Accessing Telemundo for Telenovelas done deal. Movies & series are watched at random times. Part of the joy in retirement is being able to do what you like. We can stream Youtube thru Google T V adaptor but don't for what ever reason.

dilettante made a good point about youtube I might try that on my computer although viewing on a 32 inch monitor might seem strange.

I enjoy watching my favorite shows and checking out new shows. I had also gotten into disaster movies and SciFi disaster hybrids. I don't sit in front of the T.V. for hours but mostly watch while I'm eating and maybe a little while before and after. Thus I have a too much on my "TV plate".

My TV is on a lot. And I'm amazed that some don't even have a TV. And then, there's how much of a TV nut are you. Can you get by with over the air TV with 4/5 channels at most? Then there's basic cable. Expanded Cable TV. And for the hardcore TV nuts there's HBO, Net flicks, etc.
Do you watch TV? and how much?
Fuzzy,
When my wife passed (4+ years ago) I had to downsize all of my entertainment I was subscribed to. Gone was DirecTV (after over 20 years), SiriusXM in my car,and all the premiums I had. A few months later, my rural community got fiber optic internet and the cord was well and truly cut. Acquired Roku at first. Then, after my heart attack and open-heart surgery, I realized that my life was never going to be the same. I also realized that TV was soon to become more important to me as physical activity became harder.

I decided that I needed to replace my ailing 55inch TV with what would likely be the last TV of my life, so I shot for the moon. I now own a 75inch top-of-the-line television. I now stream all things. No OTA (too distant), no cable, no sat. I have become a YouTube addict! Watching on such a large screen is really nice. There is such a wide and rich thickness of subject matters on YouTube, there is never a lack of something interesting to follow down the rabbit hole.

My TV utilizes GoogleTV which was a first for me. I now prefer this OS as opposed to ROKU (which is still hooked up as well.) I watch big movies and will occasionally actually rent one via Prime. I have enjoyed Reacher recently. I also subscribe to Netflix, Paramount, Peacock, MAX and Discovery. I have been rewatching The Big Bang Theory (hilarious for my generation). I still will occasionally watch a Star Trek episode (all series.) I'm a sucker for dog videos or dog-centric movies. I used to be a horror fan but I don't care for the violence anymore (even though the novels I have published are hardcore.) I love most SciFi stuff. Don't care for comedy movies, yet I like a few sitcoms and I love standup specials.

However, from about 8pm on, I am generally perusing YouTube. I often stay up to 2 or 3am. I could sleep earlier, but I confess that I love being awake when I know most of the world nearby is asleep. It gives me a sense of solitary peace. My Emma (Chi-weenie) has adjusted nicely to my schedule. We are copacetic.

Off-topic, but this reminded me of something. I recall being in Utah, Salt Lake City. I visited a Blockbuster video to buy some movies, and found a selection including normal rated movies, and those edited especially for the Mormon community. Apparently they censor all the nudity and swearing. I was surprised.
Why? There is no value to nudity and swearing in a movie. There are also apps like Vidangel that offers censored movies at home. :)

No, I don't watch TV. I gave up on it completely several years ago. I used to have Firber Optitac Cable, but slowly, over time, I found I was just continuously flicking through channels and programs trying to find something that interests me. I found over time that they were either mostly repeats or just mind numbing. I got rid of cable as I couldn't get through to the end of any programs without thinking I could find something more productive to do.

I then eventually put the TV in the loft. If there is anything I want to watch, I now search for it on YouTube. And even then, it's got to be on a subject that interests me; something educational, or something to exercise my brain.

I am not a big TV watcher mainly because the content offered has little interest to me. I am seriously thinking of canceling my cable (what a waste that is) and just watching the occasional movie on some streaming service.

I watch TV quite a bit. I like travel shows, I am too old to travel, but I can still see the world. There is one channel that does very good LOCAL news and weather. I am in Florida, I am not concerned with the horrible winter in International Falls.
I live in a 55+ condo which has a channel to tell the residents about activities here.
It is a plus to have a comfy recliner.

Well, I think there is value of sex/nudity and swearing in movies. But that aside, the DVD revolution hinged a lot of a lack of censorship. For all its faults, the Director's vision is always preferred, imo. If that means sex and violence, then it is what it is. I never bought any of those censored movies, but I can't imagine the cuts made the film any more coherent. I'm guessing they just silenced bad words.

To each his/her own. :) I prefer not to spend time in a sty.
