Beyond night, the last 3 hours while urban street walking, my feet have mostly been pointed at the middle of Indian Ocean, California's antipodal point.

I am also pointed west when on my back. I like to sleep on my right side on the left side of the bed. Now that I have had a right hip replacement I do not find it comfortable, I will lay on my right side until I am sleepy but roll over to sleep on my back. I am lucky that my home sits east west. I have only one window on the east side and none on the west.

@Murrmurr, I think that the awning that is on your new house might be there to prevent the sun from making that room hot. Does it face west? I will say that I love the awning and the blue shutters. I also love the big picture window in the front. I could see myself being very happy there. Our first house had been remodeled and they enclosed the patio to make a large laundry room. My husband put his weight bench in there. We could leave the door open for the dog to come in out of the weather. There was the original back door that we could lock at night and when we were at work or gone.

Meesh prefers a modern awning and the shutters removed. I'm picturing sticking a pink flamingo under that window instead .

The house faces west, so we'll get California's harsh evening sun. If we do replace the awning, it could be larger, but that wouldn't even be necessary if I install an interior window shade.

Depends on whether the Spousal Equivalent is snoring like a buzzsaw or not. If he isn't, the bottom of my feet are pointed north. If he is snoring, I toddle down the hall and my soles yearn for the west.
