Does anybody use Craig's List?

I've sold alot of things on there years ago. Now I wouldn't ..... too many sets ups and robberies going on .

I saw a report on the news where some police stations are providing an area where seller & buyer can exchange the items and collect their money.

hmmmm

Yes, I have and I recently put my my Son's bed including the mattress up for free. Very good condition but charitable organizations won't except mattresses for obvious reasons and I can understand why they do that. I had so many phone calls,it went in 2 days. I sold our old grill as well. Nice to be able to get rid of the heavy items we don't want anymore.

Here in Australia we have a very similar online selling site called Gumtree
I have sold a couple of things on GT it’s free but you have to be careful as scammers have taken advantage of people who have “sold” cars and other big ticket items like caravans and boats to the scammers. They use fake PayPal invoices to prove the item has been paid for ,and the seller is left out of pocket after paying for the car ect to be transported to a destination ,as well as the loss of the car, van or boat

IMO eBay has become very expencive to sell on

I bought a really nice used car on "letgo.com" for my Granddaughter at a great price and to my surprise the car was in very good shape. Better than I expected. The outside shined and no rough spots or dents and the inside still had an almost new smell to it with no tears. We have had it for over seven months now and no issues.

I do look/buy on CL
Never have sold
Bought/sold some things on Ebay
Got stung several years ago
Bought a telescopic camera lens, tripod and all
It wasn’t as touted
Couldn’t return it
Nobody to talk to on Ebay
Ebay has a place called ‘arbitration’
Thought sumpm w/be done
Nada
I believe it’s still in their arbitration purgatory
I’m not
Considering Etsy
But right now Amazon has my heart

I used Craig's list twice. Once to sell 2 new vinyl replacement windows (mistakes), and once to find a home for one of our goats who had gone into milk unexpectedly. It worked out really well in both cases.

The first person who called took the windows, no haggling. I was able to find an excellent home for the goat with a lady who sold products---cheese, soap. She actually had a website, and I could follow how things were going afterward.

I know nothing of how Craig's list works. The Craig's list person/customer? who agrees to buy an advertised item also pays the cost of shipping and handling of it to their address?

Elsie, Craig's List is more of a local thing, I think. Most towns have their own Craig's List. A lot of the transactions are in person. No shipping. That's probably why a lot of people are afraid of it, and why it can be abused in a different way from, say, eBay, where most transactions are done by mail. Craig's list is free, so far, except for a few categories, maybe employment (?).

Have never used it. I have a used car I was thinking of listing, if I don't decide to keep it.

I use OfferUp now, which is a modern version of Craigslist, to buy and sell things.
It's a website and an app. It's a little frustrating because I can't do everything on the website - like edit a post.
The sellers and the buyers are rated by ea other, which is a bit comforting.

Just last evening my daughter told me that the in very good condition portable closet-whatever it's called, she got for me, and a computer desk in very good condition came free came from Craig's list. Wow, I don't know how she does it!
