Does anyone on here have afternoon naps?

I have a friend who said she always takes a nap about 2pm every day for at least 3 hours. I said did she just sit on the lounge, and she said no, she goes into
bed under the covers. I couldn't do that; I must admit I do have a micro nap if something is boring on the T.V. Does any of the Members actually go to bed in
the afternoon for about 3 hours.?

My sleep patterns are rather erratic. If I stay up very late or wake up very early my head becomes very foggy. When I am barely awake I will go to bed, fully dressed, and sleep for a couple of hours. I wake refreshed and am capable of concentration once again.

I don't think I would be very refreshed if I just had a cat nap sitting up in a lounge chair.

I'm with you, @oscash ... I couldn't do it either (except for the very rare times I'm sick.) Any time I've even tried a short nap over the years always resulted in feeling miserable for the rest of the day. It's always been like that... when my daughter was a baby & toddler, people kept saying "nap when she does!" and I was like "yeah, right!" :sneaky:

I could easily enjoy a nap every afternoon - but I refuse to do that. For me, I feel it's a give in to the fact I'm old (80) and I don't accept that easily. Have to add, our day here is different from many, in that our "schedule" is about 2 hours earlier than others - up at 4, lunch at 11, dinner at 4, bedtime at 8.... Kind of odd, but it works for us.

I might afternoon nap perhaps half of the days unless I’m actively involved in something during the afternoon. My evening sleep cycle isn’t great, with sleeping perhaps six hours a night, then waking up between three and five a.m., and rarely able to get back to sleep. Sometimes the desire to nap in the afternoon can be quite overpowering.

I try not to nap for longer than an hour, or my evening sleep will be further disrupted. I never used to be able to nap in a chair, but now I can, just using a neck pillow for support…. 😓

For most of my life I slept about 6 hours a night. If I take naps in the afternoon, I can't get to sleep at night. The afternoon nap gets to be 3-4 hours, and 3-4 at night- that messes me up. I try not to take naps at any time, because I'll fall right back into that pattern.
