Does anyone remember eye cups?

Little glass things looking like an eye sized goblet on a stem, used for “eye wash”? Maybe your parents or grand parents had one. I was wishing I had one this morning when I seemed to have a little piece of dust in my eye. I think I might even have one packed away with my antique glass & bottles.

I still have an eye cup as well, and found it easier and more pleasant to use than drops in the eye. They used to sell "eyewash" as well, for use in eye cups. Now I just use plain water to flush an eye with the cup...

I remember them.

A handy way to deal with a speck in the eye and cheap too. There was always some boiled water in the kettle and a bit of salt thrown in and hey presto - a sterile eye bath.

Mine still works, inherited it when grandpa passed.... If I remember correctly, they used to come in different sizes.

Enjoy!
