Am just watching a programme about teddy bears, and antique teddies as well. one man has a collection of over five hundred. I wonder if anyone here on the forum either collects bears, or still has a childhood teddy tucked away somewhere?:D

I must admit I have two teddy bears, but not from childhood, and I don't have them on display or sleep with them, god forbid. They are quite nice and maybe collector's items with rotating limbs, so I keep them -- why I do not know, it seems a bit odd to me now, and I doubt if they are actually worth much, maybe some day. Teddy bears on the market here these days are not nearly as nice as my two.

Yes, I've still got my teddy! Sadly, he looks more like a rat nowadays since some of the stuffing escaped from his head leaving him with a pointed nose. :D

A www!Pam he sounds lovely, pointy nose and all.My own teddy was handmade by a neighbour in the 1940,s and never had a name, was just teddy.I gave him to my daughter when she was young and she christened him Ginger, as he had gingery fur.So much fur got rubbed off him as she carried it everywhere and it ended up looking like a small kangaroo. She still has him tucked away somewhere.:)

I never had a teddy bear... but I did have a stuffed dog I named FLIP... I really wish I still had him.. I don't know what became of him..

No teddy bear here but I do still have the doll that was bought for me for Christmas 1949.:)

No but I still miss him. I can remember my father telling me in very carefully chosen words that big boys didn't carry their Teddy Bear around in public. I was crushed, but I didn't take Teddy for any further outings.

Once upon a time, I gave my adult male friend a toy bear for his birthday. He named him Bert. Bert went everywhere with my friend, his head peeking out of the knapsack on his back. Had I created a monster? It was sweet, yet embarrassing for me to be seen with them. I don't know what happened to Bert or my friend because we moved away and lost touch, but last I heard he still had Bert, his best friend. I suppose they lived happily ever after. :)

Do not have my teddy bear. Do not know if I even had one. But, I do have a former co-worker's teddy. She gave me this well worn teddy, telling me he was one of her most prized possessions. That she had slept with him all her life. Writing this, it sounds so strange, although it was very touching at the time. 30 years later I still have him....somehow feel he was entrusted to me and can not throw him away.

Nice stories....... Not many though so maybe some are embarrassed to recount their teddy tales.:D
