Does everyone know what an "Incel" is?

Wonder if this kid viewed Stephen Kings, 'Mr. Mercedes,'
which involved a sexual frustrated male who drove his Mercedes into a crowd of innocents.

"Couldn't get laid in a whorehouse with a fistful of fifty dollar bills." And the reason for this? Of course, it's women!!!! It has to be a feminine cabal. Other wise, how could women resist the overwhelming enticing sexual allure of these macho men? I also think there's a female equivalent group. A man sneezes next to a woman, and she mails out wedding invitations, but wants to kill him, because he won't marry her. I've met both.

As I remind myself in my saner moments, everyone has like-kind horror stories of the opposite gender.

They say there's a glove for every hand. They say.

It's weird.

You don't know if these people are truly marginalized, or if they believe themselves to be more marginalized than they truly are because of how they think other's live.

I'd hate to see what their upbringing (or lack thereof) was (or was not.)

Well, from what I've seen and heard, it's both- individuals cluster together in a group and wear certain things to show they're members of the group, while at the same time to show they're not part of the mainstream. Examples: gangs, hippies, Rocky Freaks..
Quite a few years ago, a girl (around 20 years old) summed up her viewpoint for why she and her friends belonged to that one group: "We're Freaks, because we don't have what it takes to be normal." I thought her viewpoint was sad and even a little scary- why young people thought they were not and could not be 'normal.'

(For anyone who's not familiar with it, they're followers of this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rocky_Horror_Picture_Show and have turned it into a way of life. And they're not all young, either.

It's Individualism (or really adolescence) taken to the extreme.

"We're like this because we're not like that!" You can't go through your whole life (well, maybe you can) defining yourself "in opposition to." Forever Young and Forever Immature are not synonymous.

A big part of this "incel" stuff is our hedonistic culture. To have a teenager think a big part of his/her identity is lacking because they are not having sex is horrid! I see no one counseling these kids (or a large number of adults) about having a relationship and just being friends with someone. If they think not having tons of indiscriminate sex is a lonely downer, no one is cluing them in on what it would really be like. They have no idea what they're really looking for.

Then there's the gender-specific grief each side is given. A man who's not chasing women is not "a man." You cannot be an unattached man in our culture and not be on "the hunt" all the time without being viewed as defective.

I don't know what the female version of that stuff is. I think the grief given single women is a little more covert...but it's there.

Cliques of any kind are rather sad .. just my personal opinion.

Your description of the incidents so reminds me of an episode of Evil. It dealt with the show's big bad (who's probably really the devil) insinuating himself into the life of a young man who felt rejected by a barista. He influenced him to take control of situations and ultimately convinced him to terrorize a woman's gym, then the person who rejected him with the ultimate goal of committing murder. This young man was made aware of a website for like minded young men who also had problems with women. And no...I'd never heard the term incel before.

It's so weird these days. There are more people than ever, yet there seems to be more marginalized individuals than ever as well. That was one thing I was trying to say in a cliche "Be kind to strangers" sort of way. It doesn't take much to wound some people; conversely, it doesn't take much to give then a needed boost, either.

There are lots of ways lots of negative influences can find a way in. I think we have a duty to help fortify defenses.

Somewhere along the line changes occurred- and not for the better.
1. We must never say anything is wrong or bad- and it's not enough to be 'tolerant,' we must actually condone it;
2. Not only is everything valid, everything is equally valid.
To not take these approaches can result in being attacked as 'judgmental,' etc.
Personally, I've been smackdab in the middle of this crap for a very long time- and have not come up with any solutions.

It all starts at home.
That's been destroyed.

But the worse part of your list is that it only applies one way.
Those who put forth that crap are locked & loaded when you have a non-compliant world view.
