wish I could say the same for some others:( I've seen some things even at my age shocked me. There's been a gal staying here at the mission that has done one nutty thing after another, but the one thing that no one on staff payed much attention to, until yesterday.

One evening I smelled purex really strong in our dorm. I chalked it up to someone maybe did some extra cleaning of our sinks or toilets. It was this gal, she was washing her hair in it, and also her body:( I'm always first to step up to say something so I got her aside and talked with her. I asked her about the bleach, and she told me she was fighting a spiritual battle. So I know what the bible says but never heard of this "procedure". I asked her if she realized how toxic/poisonous bleach is and she said no worries, she knew what she was doing, and had been doing it for 3 years.

I told her that it was not good for any of us to breath and asked her if she wouldn't do it in the dorm any longer. Then she said she was leaving Tuesday (yesterday) and could I tolerate it til then. I told her I wouldn't say anything, but I couldn't promise others wouldn't. I realize now I should have reported it but luckily, someone else had caught her in the downstairs bathroom, and she was told not to do it on the property. Looking back I feel we all should have been about calling mental health or someone. To be honest, I think I really was dumbfounded and didn't know what to do.

Yesterday, I was walking down the stairs and Brad (Staff) asked me what the heck was she doing out on the porch?? He's new and didn't know the whole story yet. I looked out and sware I felt faint, she was soaked with bleach, hair and all, and she was putting it in her mouth gargeling and spitting. Brad went out and made her stop, tried to talk to her, and same story she'd given me. She went up stairs grabbed her stuff and left. He called the head of the mission to let her know what happened.

Another gal, Monday a.m., engaged to one of the homeless guys after 2 weeks of sneaking around dating (they try to keep us all separate which is smart but seems to be impossible with the young ones, yep, and even a couple of older) was up an on the phone at 6 a.m. calling the paramedics to take her to the psyche ward. I think I'd have the same reaction if I found myself engaged:( Ok, I know it's not funny, but I am learning a whole, new side of life.

Umm, I'm so ready to get my own place but I either have to rent one here, or wait on my place in CA. I heard there was beautiful, beach camping free not 5 miles or so from here but last I heard, they were drinking A LOT, and probably drugs, dancing around the campfires naked (ok, some had their panties on).

So what's new with you guys?? LOLLLLLLLLL!!

Man! You have an exciting life now a days. I don't think I need that at all. I guess you are handling it ok and that's a good thing. Hang in Denise, your ship will come in....

Have you ever seen that show "My strange addiction"? There was a lady on who drank bleach everyday, in fact all the people on there ate strange things and none of them died.

Good luck in finding a place!

All she can tell me is that it's about a year by the looks of the number signed up jujube.

Thanks Jim, no, this is one trip I could have lived without, but maybe there's some reason. I am doing well, and met so many neat people. I get along with staff, and enjoy getting some laughs out of folks once in awhile;)

I think I'll have to see that movie Lynn, might give me some idea "why" someone would do that. I heard lastnight that Michael Jackson did the same thing and while in court his nose fell off?? Oh it's gruesome:upset:

Same here Denise, hope everything works out for you soon. You could write a book about all the goings on you are experiencing.:friendly_wink: after you leave it will all look less of a nightmare!

Oh yeah Merlin!! Maybe I will have to do that;) Not sure if I could actually do it but I guess only trying will tell hey;) denise

Hi Denise!
It sounds as if you are being a good mother hen where you are. That poor lady needed to be cared for by the mental health people, she shouldn't have been in your dorm. Are you looking to rent somewhere nearby, or in another town?Is renting very expensive there like here?I have been wondering how you are and hoping that all will soon be well for you.xx

Takes all kinds, eh, Denise! Hope you find your own space soon! :bighug:
