I like your new door knocker
I live in an apt building,to let people in we have an intercom phone system to buzz them in
Our apt doors all have push bells, sometimes they work, other times people knock on the door
I have both... a Door knocker and a ''ring doorbell'' with a video so I can not only see who is at the door and also the immediate surrounds as far as the road beyond my garden ,but I can have a conversation with them without opening the door...
We have always had door bells. Our present door bell has four ringers, so we can have them in different parts of our house. We have one upstairs, so I can hear it as I spend a lot time up here, I have my desk in my bedroom.
I had a beautiful antique brass door knocker. I say had, because when I had to take care of my mother in Florida and was forced to rent my house, It disappeared along with everything else that wasn't nailed down, (and even some stuff that was nailed down) when the poo head renter cleared out.
Of course, I didn't need a knocker as few if any people ever come up my lane, and then the barking fur babies let me know well before they even get to the yard.
I have a door buzzer downstairs to let people in and a door knocker too. Not many use the knocker on my door. They prefer to knock. I prefer neither. I don't like the sound of either.
My apartment door has a door knocker on it ... but in two years here, I don't think anyone has ever used it ...lol
Everyone just knocks on the door. Works!
I live in an apartment building and there is an intercom setup to buzz people in. The individual apartment doors have knockers on them. (There are also peepholes inside the apartments for a "sneak peek".)
As soon as I saw the OP I thought how soon will this turn to body parts but I will add this. Growing up in the Chicago area we had a sausage/hotdog like meat called "Knockers". They were short, about 4 inches long and about 2 inches in diameter with the texture of hotdogs. They were heavy in garlic and my mom baked them with rice and sauerkraut. I believe they were of German origin but I have seen them in a Polish restaurant here where I live now.
