double standard?

I do understand when reporting news on terrorism that once someone has been identified positively as a member of a terrorist group or having terrorist motivations to report them as ' Islamic terrorist' or 'member of ISIS' and along those lines. It seems like any time a Muslim is arrested for anything they get a religion 'tag' next to their name. Once I read where someone ( I forget his name) had been arrested on drug charges & they wrote ' So and so ( I forget his name) Muslim found guilty of drug...blah blah blah'

I do not feel like the reporting of crimes has been anything but a double standard in reporting by the media.

I never read that Mr. X ' a member of the first Baptist church' or ' a methodist' or ' a Catholic' ETC next to a persons name when they are arrested for crimes & even violent crimes.

Even members of white supremacist groups do not get a religion tag next to their names when they are arrested. I just don't think it's fair at all & feel it's wrong.

P.S. I had a friend whose brother became a white supremacist AFTER having been married to a hispanic woman. He never paid child support & had completely abandoned his own children referring to them as 'breeds'. His parents had been supporting of his wife and children and disowned him after discovering he had a huge collection of guns in his house preparing for 'the war'. He got arrested for something and no tag was next to his name at all.

You make a good point. It is easy for us to attach prejudicial labels to people that have nothing to do with why they have been
arrested/charged/convicted of a crime. Profiling can be very dangerous.

Agree. Good point. Islamophobia is getting much worse IMO. And the media helps create it.
