Gosh, those things are handy. I just read the thread on the motor home maintenance and it was suggested they be used for mice prevention -- who knew?

I'm eaten alive by mosquitos everywhere I go it seems....until I started putting a dryer sheet in each pocket of my pants from someone's recommendation, and one in my shirt pocket if I have one. It works like a charm.
 

I just put one in a small woodpile we have on the porch, and one in a box we keep out there with empty bags for dog clean-up. Trying to keep any mice away. Some people take the used ones into the shower with them to wipe down the shower doors, supposed to cut down on hard water spotting.
 
The only dryer sheets i know were those thin pieces of foam impregnated with a conditioner that you put in your dryer, all the clothes would smell lovely, bit like Cuddly, now that was back in the 70's, it may be a completely different thing that Katy is talking about. :bowknot:

Similar to what Jilly said, but I don't think they're made out of foam. It's a small thin sheet to throw in the dryer with the clothes. It's impregnated with fabric softener and perfume, smells vary by brand. When the clothes are dry, you throw it away.
 
I thought that's what they were, i haven't seen them here since the 70's, from memory they said it wasn't good for the dryer, and i don't use fabric softener as it coats the washing machine in awful greyish black goo that apparently does damage to the machine.
 
I never used regular fabric softener, didn't use anything until I checked out the dryer sheets, I was attracted by the convenience (and smell).
 
I lurrrrved the apple scented ones, used them all the time in Singleton but haven't even thought about them here. They were a thin fine foam though. I used to use them in the wardrobe and linen closet too, lovely smell and kept the moths out. Don't know if they're still around, they were 3 years ago. Must put them on my look for list.

I've got a 3 yo clothes line here that is still 'virginal'. I never use a line, everything goes in the dryer. It's the perfect weather here for drying clothes but reaching up to peg them out and wrestling with them to bring them in is more than I can manage. I didn't use it in Singleton because it was always covered in coal dust and the clothes come off the line dirtier than when they went into the washer down there when the wind's wrong.
 
If you do use dryer sheets, you can cut them in half first and only need to use half of one, so you can turn 80 sheets into 160 sheets and they still work just as good.
A nice cheap-skate tip that works.
