Dumb Phones are Catching On

Four years ago, Verizon advised me they were ending service for their non-smart mobile phones. Reluctantly, I bought a new phone, the cheapest one they carried.
I imagine Verizon is scrambling to reinstate that "old" service.

Next we need "dumb banks" for those who can't manage their money, either.

Probably cashless, with just a sort of debit card that only works on purchases for items on the Social Credit Overlords' approved list. Perhaps some contactless chip installed in foreheads: just bow to your masters' altar to pay!

They [Verizon] told me the same crap. So I bought what sounds like the same phone you have. I hope they do bring back the "old" service, because I always liked my old small flip phone .... it was much smaller, worked better, had all features I'll ever need. Verizon told me that , that phone would not support 5G ? And yet in the upper corner of my new phone's screen it says 4G ?

I've never had anything but a flip phone and don't ever plan to get anything different. I can make a phone call with it and send short texts. And I can close it, stick it in by pocket, and forget it's there.

I hear that Apple is up to I Phone 15. Their business model is to have you constantly upgrading so that they can keep their revenue stream going.

Lots of us fell for it. I feel dumber than my old phone.

Here's some interesting data about smart phones around the world....

Smart Phone Stats

I'm a little behind the curve, since my cell phone is a 12 Pro Max. I've lost track of how many smart phones I've had, but I think the first one was a 4.

OMG Sprint did the same thing with me. So I switched to Consumer Cellular. When I called to cancel Sprint they told me I could still get a flip phone, just a different kind. But it was too late. Should have clarified that in the original notice perhaps?

I've been very pleased with Consumer Cellular. I can text on the phone and it has a camera. That said, Sprint wasn't bad and I had them for years. Price increases with them were very small over the years.

Me too.

I don't text and only use keep my android phone basically for an emergency if I'm out somewhere. Hubby refuses to have any phone on his person. He usually does stuff locally in his SUV but I do worry if he goes further out and has no phone. Usually, I go with him.

I'm skeptical of this "Generation Z, Millennials, etc.," nonsense. It's based on little data and a lot of imagination. That said, I suspect that the huge number of kids without an IPhone is the same huge number of people, who grow up and don't have a TV in the house.

I have the red rotary phone, but cannot connect or use it now.

I loved and miss those old phones! Hanging up on somebody was so satisfying! :ROFLMAO:
