E Transfers Not Always Safe

For the past several years I've used electronic payments for everything. So does almost everyone I know. I don't even have any physical cash anymore. The other day I was at the pharmacy to pick up a prescription. The co-pay amount was seven cents. I paid with a credit card. I don't understand this obsession with trying to keep things the way they were in the olden days. Those days are forever gone, never to return again. I'm sorry. I don't call the shots. All I can do is read the scorecard.

I saw the thread title and thought "is anyone surprised ?"

If that isn't the ever-loving, blue-eyed truth, I don't know what is.

That said, I always carry about $100 plus coins on me. Two reasons: old habits die hard and I've come upon more than one scenario where a store's internet or power went out. Managers break out battery operated calculators and accept cash only.

That's right, everyday we in society are forced to do things that we don't want, don't believe in and don't trust. However, it is "shoved down our throats" even if we scream blue murder. We have lost our freedoms, lost common sense and lost our will to choose our destiny. So, why am I not surprised at all the gun violence in the US? Why am I not surprised at the increasing gun violence here in Canada? No, I'm not surprised at all. I'm surprised there isn't more of it. People are getting fed up and I, for one, am not surprised and I totally understand their anger and their frustration.

With technology, life moves in new directions. Very few stores had hitching posts by the time I was born in the early 50s, and cars had only (almost fully) replaced horses as the US mode of private transportation around 1940. We shifted from hundreds of years of transport by horse to cars in roughly 30 years.

I don't do e-transfers between friends for splitting lunch tabs or money gifts for weddings, b-days, etc., because I'm very reluctant to set up any financials to my phone, banking and CCs included. For now, I can still use my (horse-and-buggy) system of cash and checks.

I agree, as I do as well.

Well, I too understand [some] of the frustation etc .... But I do not understand the shooting .

I say some because , I think much of it comes from folks just expecting too much. This feeling / belief, of entitlement has to stop. Just because the guy down the street drives a $70,000 SUV ... does not mean every person desiring one is entitled to one.

IMO, allot of this all started with the 'everyone gets a trophy' crap.

People need to get a grip on themselves and realize that they are not in the same money club .... as top athletes or entertainers .

Ya need a job .... So get a job, and learn to live within the means the job provides.

OK ..... I'l get off my soapbox now.
