Early Retirement is Sweet

It all depends on what your job was at retirement. Some people, (me included), enjoy their job and don't want to retire, but the company has forced retirement at a certain age or they offer an employee an early out package and the money with benefits are too good to pass up.

welcome hpylady to the world of retirement......I'm a sports fanatic...played sports in college , then coach for a bunch of years.....enjoy pickleball, riding bike, watching grandkids games, fishing and being outdoors in general

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I had not planned on retiring early but a snowy accident on my way to work very early in the morning confirmed that it was time. My employer wasn't very understanding when I suggested he call a couple workers that lived in town. I had to drive 20 miles on fresh snow. They couldn't possibly work because they couldn't get out of their drive way. There was a time I would have overlooked that but this was not the time. So now I watch the beautiful snow through my glassed in front porch.
Lynx I've never played sports but have always like baseball and then my granddaughter played softball from the 5th grade through college earned herself a scholarship. Now my 15 yr old grandson brightens my weekends with volleyball games. He also plays the saxophone in a jazz band so he's quite the entertainer.
Best part of getting old is the grandkids.;)

I don't want to offend anyone (I'm sure I will) but when I retired my father-in-law told me: "retirement was just like sex........I knew right away I was going to LIKE it.
Sorry, if you find this offensive but whenever my friends retire I could not wait to lay this on them. Never did if fail to get a laugh.
Here's hoping you enjoy a long, happy and healthy retirement

Welcome to the forums. I'm not a Cardinals fan (baseball wise) but Paul Goldschmidt is one of my favorite players.
A great first baseman and can hit home runs...can't ask for more than that. I get a little heat because I'm in IL and I'm not a long time Cubs fan. The Cubs don't win as often as the Cardinals do. The Cards have 11 series wins and the Cubs 3. I think I can be both a Cubs fan and a Cardinal fan.(y)

Your father-n-law must have had some really good sex..lol Retirement is good unless you realize that your excuse for not doing things is totally gone. If you can bring yourself to say no once in a while then you will be able to enjoy your retirement more.

Retired at 50 and I agree, it is sweet. My DIL would have loved your avatar. She loved butterflies and purple. Looking forward to more of your posts. Hope you enjoy it here as much as I do.
