No. Locally(US-NM) there have been lots of ad campaigns to get people to get their takeout or whatever to help keep the restaurants in business. I used to eat out or get takeout once a month or so, but don’t want to now. #1, because unless it’s a restaurant whose business had always been mostly or high level of takeout because of concern about the freshness of ingredients. #2 I don’t want that many extra hands on my food right now. #3. I’m trying not to spend a cent that I don’t have to, not even making any donations, in case any of my family need help down the road, or costs go up overall.

Me, too. No eating out for me in the immediately foreseeable future.

We ran into a prime example of "price gouging" from a fast food joint a few days ago. We stopped at a Taco Bell for a quick lunch while doing some shopping in a larger town. Like most places, they only had drive thru service, and there wasn't any prices listed on their menu board. I assumed our "snack" would be about $10, but when we got to the window, they wanted $16. I was almost tempted to tell them to Shove It, and drive off, but I paid, and vowed to never stop there again.

@Don M.

For those who have ventured out , they have noticed the prices have increased quite substantially so even with the 50% voucher one is either paying the same price as it was before the lockdown or actually paying more. So no great deal there. Hope that makes sense. :unsure:

Other than a few Pizza Hut deliveries I've been trying to limit how much my food is handled by others because I've witnessed too much just at my job alone. Enough to make a person's stomach turn.

Our main occasional pick up joints are Arby's and a great local Chinese restaurant that won't even open back up the indoor dining...maybe he's making as much money without all the hassle. Both places are well worth the money. Usually heat the Arby's back up in the convection oven, but other than that, no chore at all and very reasonably priced.

Get the 5 dollar box, then it is 10 for two boxes, but we actually split the 5 box

We do take out at our regular places. While I suppose you could get the virus from the packaging you can not get it from the food. Just wipe down the packaging, wash your hands, and eat. Even once a week, which is what we do, helps businesses and the economy of your area.

I have gotten take out some since the pandemic started. There's a local social media push to support local rather than chain restaurants.

I thought most chain restaurants were franchises so they are locally owned.

We've been getting sushi to go which should be cold, so warmth hasn't been an issue for the most part. My wife likes a specialty roll that's broiled in a toaster oven so that comes a little cooler than she usually likes it, but when we've gotten it in the restaurant she usually has to wait about 5 minutes for it to cool off enough for her to eat.

I went to an outdoor cafe with BF back in June before our weather turned so hot. There are no indoor dining places open ( only outdoor ) ,where I live although a couple of my friends who live on the coast have been going to restaurants every night almost and sending selfies. I'd eat out but only if it's indoor dining.

It depends. Some people own one franchise in their hometown, some own a lot of restaurants over multi-state regions. I think the 'locally owned' movement around here is in support of the mom and pop operations where the owners are on site and the food is unique to their place.

No. I haven't eaten out since the pandemic began, though I do get takeout occasionally. A discount wouldn't change my mind about that.
