Election Day at last in America…

Well clearly, it's of no interest personally to me... but in the great scheme of world affairs it's an extremely important event...
Yes, of course, it is. It affects countries as a whole, but not individual people as much as people would have you think.

But people of the world are ignorant and not educated on issues on all the elections in all the countries of the world.

It‘s like when the dock workers announced an upcoming strike. Costco ran out of toilet paper. 😂😂😂😂. There were public service announcements. Toilet paper is trucked in from Canada. Never underestimate the stupidity of the people.

Given the pervasive nature of the things it's a matter of life and death for some people. 🫤
I would ask in what way but you couldn’t answer. So let me said this, in the nature of the world this is always true regardless of which world leader you are talking about.

Tonight is exactly why I don't watch TV. Am flipping channels at relatives (I don't have cable) and am feeling like no matter the result, the US loses. Guess I'm predisposed to feel this way since I voted for someone who will get zero electoral votes.

I guess the polling places being in Church properties, although spacious to entertain those voters,
I sincerely dislike the thing happening on religious ground. Then I count all the Church properties
in the state and cannot believe in those agreement happening. & the number of them that are.
___________
Where is the separation of Church and state not mentioned.

Well we voted. Accidentally ran a stop sign because the low sun was blinding us.

I signed in with no hitch, but my son's machine pumped out a blank piece of paper. Wouldn't you know?
They had to work on the machine for a few minutes. We figure the votes from the whole state will be thrown out due to that malfunctioning machine.
Don't worry the VP candidate of Ohio will count the vote for you! ... :coffee::ROFLMAO: ...

Drove back and got in a longish line at 3:45pm and was through 45 minutes later. Reason for longer line was a more complex tedious process than in past elections per below.

  • If people didn't bring their postal mailed election pamphlet that has one's voter registration bar code info on it as I did, they were asked several questions that the poll person had to type into a computer then look them up with. Of course few brought that along because there was no instructions to do so on the pamphlet with the bar code.
  • Then was asked paper ballot or touch screen machine?
  • Then was asked Do you need assistance?
  • Then had to review recorded info and sign off on a tablet display.
  • Then after a computer processed that info, was given a plastic machine card with one's info and a paper opague security sleeve for the yet to be printed out ballot.
  • At the voting machine, one first pushed in the plastic machine card.
  • Then the display began going through maybe a dozen election/issue pages one selected choices from.
  • Upon completion, the machine printed out a completed paper ballot.
  • In order that others would not be able to possibly see voting as one walked about 20 feet from the voting machine to a vote counting machine one put the printout into a large sleeve.
  • Then at the counting machine pushed the print out in and pressed a large green completed button.
  • Finally a poll person took the card and sleeve and gave me a "I Voted Sticker"..

I'll try to answer as best I can without getting political.
Depending on which fork in the road the electorate takes lives in certain parts of the world may face increased exposure to acts of war.

Yes, and they might anyway.

Politicians lie, politicians say stuff they know is a lie, politicians want to win, it’s just a job. It’s like people saying it’s the economy, but people don’t understand what the economy is. Most people cannot balance their check books. Yet alone understand the world economy. I can’t and I don’t.

All the countries of the world are in terrible debt. The USA owes trillions plus, and we give and give and give money and goods away. We borrow that money. If we default on our loans we take the world down. Yet people want taxes lowered. It’s insane. Taxes pay for the loans; not the principal just the interest. How does anyone even think taxes can be lowered?

The world leaders just don’t matter much. The accountants matter a lot, IMO.

The national debt of the USA as of October 2024, is 35.7 trillion dollars.

Who really believes taxes will be lowered? Cause I’d like to sell you a bridge 😂.

Well I think you might have had a different opinion under Hitler. I think world leaders do matter.

We are all entitled to our own opinions, and we have to be careful not to turn this thread political, however, the people of Germany wanted Hilter if it hadn’t been him, it’d been someone like him.

If the people of a country want another Hilter, then another Hilter will be elected. The responsibility of the rise of Hilter rested with the German people. Hilter was the leader the German people wanted at the time.

This is the way elections work. You get what you want. You get the leader you vote for, so no, I might not have had a different opinion if I was German and under Hilter. The German people MADE Hilter. And while they try an d claim it wasn’t so, it was.

Even the Jewish people who knew they should leave, didn’t. Because Germany was their home.
You can not rewrite history.
That is exactly my point. Going out to vote matters. And I don't think voting is a laughing matter as you seem to think with all of your laughing emojis.

I don’t know why you, or anyone attack people you disagree with but it’s a common thing to do. It is a laughing matter, IMO, and Americans laugh at themselves a lot. The hipe is “every vote matters”; in reality they don’t. stop drinking the kool aid.

We do not elect our president via popular vote. If we did, thenEVERY vote would matter. But we use the electoral college. So every vote does not matter. In fact, lots of votes don’t matter. I suggest you re-educate yourself on the way voting works in the USA to better understand the irony of it all. And the fixing of voting districts to ensure that “every vote” does not matter.

5 times people have won the popular vote but lost via the electoral college. 😳😲😂. Did you not know this?

This happened in 1824, 1876, 1888, 2000, 2016.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I may have heard before that in other countries that a party wins, then those representatives vote for one to lead. This USA election, no common voter voted for the vice president to be on the ballot. It was all party officials deal making.

There were some states being "called" by the news media with < 1% of votes counted. As they always vote for one party to win.
Exactly, which is why many votes do not matter because certain states always vote certain ways, and as long as the population remains stable it will always be that way. Which is why it’s the battleground states that matter so much, and makes it so suspenseful, and, well, amusing.

They might as well call California for the vice president, and save all those people time standing in line to vote. They could just go home and drink some California wine.
