Does anyone else have 3 remotes? and several cell phones that are hard to read, when I miss a call, it takes a act of congress for me to get to where I can call them back.

Im I the only one with this problem?

Four remotes!

Yes, electronics are "nice" but a lot of the folks who make them seem interested in solving a problem that no one had in the first place. The only thing worse, of course, are the "solutions" to the problems, like those absurd "harmony" remotes that consolidate all your remotes into one... until they out of sync with what's actually happening in the TV/dvd player, and then mahem ensues.

Haha, it seems that way, I had to get my son to help me set up all my new electronics, it's just so different now. I have two remotes and that's all I could manage I think. Fortunately I don't have a cell phone, I don't think I'd be able to use one, I'm happy with my TV and computer and maybe one or two new toys I might pick up!

I don't even understand what half the buttons on my remote even do and my cell phone is a challenge to operate also. Luckily I have friends I can turn to who can explain it to me and can do things for me. I guess it's just how things are and how they progress. haha

I have to admit I am normally a electronic nut. Right now I have the regular TV remote, a cable box remote, a remote for my VHS and a remote for the DVD player. What's funny is that even though I love electronics, I don't have a cell phone and havent had one for almost 4 years. I just havent seen the need. My 16 yr old son has one my aunt gave him, but as for me, since I am basically home bound because of limited movement, I just never saw the need for me to have one. I have a land line and it does me right enough. Since when I go out and about my son is normally with me then I have access to one in case of an emergency.

It's funny to see peoples faces when I tell them this. Its like its hard for them to believe that someone can survive without one. It's just difficult to justify financially having one when it would basically be sitting on the counter plugged in charging.

We have three remotes total. I'm one of those people who is also gizmo challenged. Whether it's the computer, TV, DVD player, cellphone...they all leave me scratching my head at times, and my husband has to come to the rescue. There's something to be said about the olden days, a simpler time...aaah. :)

I find it hard to figure out what I need to use for different tasks. For example my cell phone can work as a scheduler but I have an electronic scheduler for that already! It seems like there are so many useless electronics available now that all do the exact same thing. It is very confusing and mixes me up a lot!

No, I used to have a couple remotes too. If you go to a Walmart or target there are some universal remotes that can be programmed to work for a tv, a cable box and a dvd player. There are even some that have large keys that are easier to see. As for the cell phones, there are cell phones out there that are better for visionary purposes as well. Last christmas I bought a Just5 cell phone as a gift, it has big numbers, a large display screen and it even speaks back the numbers when you press them. I like the phone because its easy to use without the extras of todays high tech cell phones.

Agreed, but you have to admit it IS difficult to surf the 'Net using an abacus. :p

Maybe it's because I've always been of a nerdy nature, even as a kid, but I don't find modern electronics challenging. FRUSTRATING at times, yes, but not really challenging to the point where I just stare and weep. I've built my own computers and electronic music synthesizers using naught but a soldering iron and a rusty pair of pliers, so it isn't the technical dimension that overpowers me - rather, it's the SIZE of the components manufactured these days, especially things like cell-phone keyboards.

Thank Buddha I don't text on the phone. The few times I tried it looked like RainMan trying to write Shakespearean iambic pentameter. On a bad day.

In fact, the only cell I have now sits in a dresser drawer, because it's one of those pre-paid ones that I neglected to renew. Shows how many friends I have ...

I've been attempting to teach my roommate how to use the Internet. You've no doubt heard the expression "teaching a pig to sing"? Child's play!

I hope to repair the drywall where my head broke through the surface when I get the chance.

I have an interest in things electronic but I'm not obsessed; at least I don't think I am:confused:

We each have a remote for our own TV's. No house phone so two cell phones, I have a remote for the door locks, etc. on my car.
That's about all I can handle and even those don't get used to their full potentials.

My cell phone is just that - a cell phone, not a Blackberry, IPod, Droid, or whatever else is on the market. It is a cell phone with the strongest available signal. Even though I don't trail ride anymore, I mostly rode alone in some pretty remote areas --- I want a cell phone that will "reach out and touch a cell tower" if I go off my horse in the deep woods:saturn:
