The good thing about emojies is that they make up for the lack of tone of voice or facial expressions when you've got only words. Sometimes when you're just kidding, an emojie can make it clear that you are.

I like Emogies and use them often.
If you want an Avatar someone can easily walk you through it. It just now took me about 30 seconds to put up the Halloween photo of me with my boyfriend Reginald.
I guess it makes a difference too if you are a texter, I'm NOT. Will leave this planet NOT texting I can almost guarantee that one. Most older folks for the most part like to talk on the phone to communicate with a friend ..... and I'm a lot older than MANY here.

Jam, I'm with you here. I absolutely HATE texting!
I agree also. I mainly use the smile to show I'm joking or being friendly. The good thing about emojies is that they make up for the lack of tone of voice or facial expressions when you've got only words. Sometimes when you're just kidding, an emojie can make it clear that you are.
AZ Jim, if you are talking to me, this does NOT worry me. Don't twist my words...I was expressing an opinion and could care less if people love their emojies. thanks. jam
Relax a little and think about what you do like rather than what you don't. I sense stress here. Emotis and texts are not the most important things in the world. Let the anger go maybe. Just float it away. It must matter to you or you wouldn't have started a thread about it, right? Peace - Chic.
Speaking of text contractions, can you read this?
View attachment 58004
It's an amateur radio QSL card from 1935. Morse code led to many contractions. Here's a translation:
Remarks: Your signals sure fine business. Thank you many times for nice contact and will hook up again. I may go a step further and put in low power. Ha Ha. Next time you're out here be sure and drop in. ? ? best wishes again.
Amateurs exchange these cards after making contacts. Contractions are nothing new. Why use fer instead of for? An e is . an o is ---.
