ERRRR!!! Online Ordering !🤬🤬🤬

yes I agree keesha..there's so many scams going around lately... particualrly targetted at the elderly. People posing as samaratins from senior and old age societies , offering to go and get the shopping for people who are alone and unable to get to the stores.. and cleaning out their bank accounts.. just terrible. If I was in charge of the law, just even a first offence at this would carry a 20 year prison term...

Keesha, I never buy online unless it's through Amazon of E-bay, because I feel protected by Paypal. I refuse to put my credit card on-line. If I want something I can ONLY get from that company, I look for a phone number and order over the phone. If they don't have a phone number or contact info, I don't need it!

If you start to order something online, then change your mind, ALWAYS go to the order page and change the quantity to "Zero" before you exit the web site. Then, close your browser. These Scam sites always use "cookies", and if you leave an order incomplete, they can still capture your data and bill you.

Like others have mentioned, I virtually Never buy anything online unless the site accepts PayPal. PayPal offers a 2nd level of protection and if there is any question about an order, contacting PayPal quickly resolves the problem.

Online shopping is great....but, it still requires a buyers Full Attention, and careful precautions. There are an endless array of scams on the Internet.

Do those type of cookies easily clean out of our computers? @Don M. or others who know?

"Cookies" remain on your computer, until you clean your system....via a good Anti-virus that you have set to run automatically, and an application such as CCleaner. I use Windows Defender, and make sure to keep it updated, and it catches a lot of this Trash, but a lot still slips by the AV, so I run CCleaner at least weekly and it erases the rest of this junk. I also run SpyBot on my system, and update it at least weekly....it blocks most Trojans, etc.
I may be a bit "paranoid" about my systems security, but I would rather be safe than to find out that my finances, etc., have been hacked.

Thank you @Don M.
The simple "clear cookies" in the computer settings ….is not thorough ?
I have always wondered about it.

I do have some other anti-virus stuff....

We didn't have a problem getting our order....A lady brought the items to the door...But we don't go out until she leaves....
We just couldn't get "toilet paper"....So hub's ordered on line...It will take a week....LOL!!!!! Anyway....We will do this again
when we need more items...Right now, it's just the two of us, we are OK....Oh, I put rubber gloves on and wiped down all the items..
My husband said I was going overboard!!!!

I have "clear cookies" turned on, and that is "supposed" to clear these when I clear my History...but plenty still seem to be there when I run CCleaner. Between the Cookies, and the Tracking that most web sites use, there are endless opportunities for the hackers to exploit.

I do use Paypal wherever possible. Use Walmart card for purchases there. Found through onlining at Walmart, they ship postal box, that there is a weight limit, so i keep that in mind.

Peppermint........not overboard at all. You have to do whatever you need to in order to feel safe.

Keesha--if you don't already have alerts set up on your credit card, please do so ASAP. (Go to the credit card website and create an account.) Then you will get an alert text to your phone (or email) when your card is used. This saved me from a scam last year when charges started hitting my Visa for things I didn't buy.

And do call your credit card customer service ASAP. They should be available on Sunday.
You’re kidding? I didn’t realize they have this. When I call these people , I will get this feature for sure. Thanks so much for the heads up. There’s so much I don’t know. I feel like a rookie here but better late than never. Thanks C’est Moi 👍🥰

Ordered some stuff locally Friday afternoon, which was delivered by doordash within 12 hours, could have been within 4 hours, but I'd rather have it delivered during daylight hours. I was hesitant at first but it went extremely well. Only one item couldn't be filled.

There was a deliver fee, but it saved me from driving there and back and waiting in line to get in. Worth it in my own experience.

Funny how new markets emerge.

What did I order you ask? Why wine of course ;) - Merchant was Total Wine.

Amazon prime has many benefits - Free shipping is one of them. Hope this helps.
I love Amazon and have never been scammed or ripped off by them but unfortunately with Amazon Prime I have to reorder something every month to get free shipping and most items I don’t want shipped every month. Only things like books are free shipping since their main factory isn’t too, too far away in Canada.

What I should have done this morning was check to see if Amazon had it first or even something similar but I hadn’t had my coffee or puff yet so wasn’t quite thinking right 😬😅

That’s my excuse and I’m sticking with it. 😎

@Keesha
I almost ordered something the other day from a site and felt a bit confused by something so I googled the site to get reactions from others and found that although the site legitimately existed it's record with shipping & customer service was poor so I decided to forgo the purchase. From now on, if it's not a well-known site I'm promising myself to do the Googling prior to further involvement.

This is how I normally am. I’m quite anal about my purchases and normally only order something from reputable known sellers but I slipped up this morning. I was very happy to have been able to vent to you all though , instead of my husband. 🥺
You were all so gentle & understanding.😅
So thank you 🙏 🥰

Just not sure about this amazon thing yet. You buy this Amazon prime, which supposed to allow free shipping, but............i've noticed there are a lot of items which are not ship free even with the prime purchase, so i guess it's a case of ...read the fine print...Maybe there's something i've totally missed about Amazon.

There are thousands of sellers on the Amazon Marketplace (website). Make sure you are buying from Amazon.

If you use Mozilla Firefox Kaila, you can clear individual
cookies in options and cache, in the cache you can see
"Manage Cookies", in there you can delete individual ones.

Mike.

My order was successfully cancelled.
Yayyyy!
Thanks for all the support.
I’m getting that notice added to my credit cards. Great idea. I didn’t even know that existed. 👍
