You’re welcome.Thank you. The sadness is always with me.
BINGO!When people put other people down, it’s usually about jealousy.
OF course.
You have my deepest sympathy Leann. To lose your beloved brother during such a senseless, hateful act....well, I can certainly imagine how you feel. During most of my daily prayers, among other things, I pray for justice and peace for those who have lost loved ones to senseless violence. In 2015, two illegal immigrants shot and killed my wonderful brother while attempting to steal his vehicle. They got his vehicle, took it for a joy ride then abandoned it. They stole a life, a loss from which I will never recover. I have a lot of thoughts about these topics, none of which I'll go into detail here but you might be able to discern what they are.
That some people take justice into their own hands and think that shooting is the answer has been an escalating problem lately! We have a criminal justice system (although not always as equal as proclaimed) to deal with people who commit crimes. So not, the car thief did not get his "just desserts". But perhaps the shooter got his.You don't think the thief got his just desserts?
No, the comment was replied to a couple of times by other members.Did this bit of nastiness slip through the cracks? Europe did not "send" their - what? Their worst? The European immigrants who were lucky enough to arrive here were mostly escaping from horrors, violence, poverty, and unspeakable atrocities.
And "what we are getting from down south?" Really? Desperate immigrants who love this country and only want to come here to work?
Whoever or whatever you are oldaunt, you should be ashamed.
Here's why folks feel the need to "take justice into their own hands" - Murder suspect with a long criminal history was was out on bond for a 2018 shooting that left one person dead. And, shockingly,, he did not show up for his murder trial! This is a central Florida case, and it all happened about 20 miles from where I live. Mr. Brown, meet Mr, Glock. That some people take justice into their own hands and think that shooting is the answer has been an escalating problem lately! Openly comparing.
What not to do online.
I didn't see this thread as being about comparing countries, I took it more literally as being about what the rest of the world sees or perceives the USA to be like. Easier for an outsider to see than for the locals, eg the gun culture. Why not? Why can't we compare differences between countries without people getting snarky or defensive?
We can and we do which is why we end up with animosity and patriotism. Thats what comparing does. We divide and conquer, every single time. Luckily it’s a type only forum. Why not? Why can't we compare differences between countries without people getting snarky or defensive?
The thread is about how Europeans feel about Americans. OK before anyone gets defensive I know how diverse the USA is, there's pro and anti gun people plus there's a huge amount of diversity within the shooting public.
It's a sad irony that the *United States* is becoming increasingly polarised, watch this space until November and on to January.
Call it what you like. It’s what happens when people compare one another . It happens individually and happens amongst groups When it happens between countries, it often turns into WAR! I’m not fond of it either.@PeppermintPatty
Uh oh, i always consider divide and conquer as the first rule of fascism.
I'd like a dollar for every time I've said that...

Sure they should but they won’t.No I dont think so.
Adults should be able to have a discussion comparing differences between countries without animosity or patriotism.
