Europeans Share "Hard Truths" About We Americans

The actual Reddit thread itself is pretty funny. There was more joking around which is what Reddit does.

The article pulled out the contentious issues. That's what authors of articles do. btw, the Reddit thread is 9 months old.

Europeans, what is something us Americans aren’t ready to hear?

Here's some comments on the top page, pulled at random.

"Worcestershire"

"Europe and the European Union are not the same thing"

"Wouldn't be surprised if a good 50% of the posts here are from Americans."

"Middle grounds exist. It doesn’t always have to be pro this anti that."

There's also an opposite thread that's a year old and what probably spawned the European thread.

Americans, what is something us Europeans aren’t ready to hear?

"Most of us can’t afford to visit you. We aren’t being rude, we’re just broke."

"Our ideas of foreign cuisine are basically products of the immigrant experience."

"Your perception of America is too informed by the internet rather than reality. It works both ways. But still…. You’re not immune"

"The KFC Double Down will both disgust and delight you."

just skimmed through it all - usual stuff seen it many times on many forums mixed and just national - "to err is human to forgive is devine"! and not to even mention is the icing on the cake!
@davey
I maintain that if someone is big enough to apologise then we should accept it and forgive them, unless we have a compelling reason not to.

just notice your location is that joondalup WA OZ - if so used to visit it occasionally

You’d shoot someone for stealing your car?
If the guy is dragging me out of the car physically and I don't know what's going to happen next, absolutely. If he's just stealing my car from in front of my house, no because I know I'd be prosecuted. But I have absolutely ZERO sympathy for somebody shot and killed for stealing a car.

No one can "knock on the door and apply for US Citizenship ". The actual process is lengthy, and full of delays, to the point that in many cases the time required to actually become a US citizen can be up to TEN YEARS LONG. FIRST the potential immigrant must apply and be approved for admission into the USA, based on their education standing, past employment history, financial situation and what skills they bring to the USA.

Once in the country, the LEGAL immigrant has to be fully self supporting, and find a job, a place to live and establish themselves in your country. Being a Green Card holder is the first step on the path towards eventually becoming a US citizen ( if they choose to do so ). It is perfectly legal for a person to live and work in the USA as a permanent resident, for decades, if they choose to do so.

Please understand the difference between a LEGAL immigrant, and an ILLEGAL migrant. The first person has followed all the rules, met all the requirements, and they are in the USA to make a living and improve the future life of their kids. Unless you are the descendant of American Aboriginal people, somebody in YOUR FAMILY was an immigrant in the past, too. Never forget that fact. JimB.
And that's exactly as it should be. I've looked into other countries to retire to, more out of curiosity, but all of them make you prove you have the means to support yourself. You can't walk in empty handed

Understandable. You didn’t offer any details.
It sounded like you’d shoot anyone caught trying to steal your car. Self defence in the situation you mentioned seems justified.

I said that in my post, you must have missed it
" I believe you said he dragged the guy out of the car, and yes in that case feel free to shoot him. Don't want to get shot? Don't steal cars."
