Ever date or marry a twin?

Well, did you wind up liking the "wrong twin" better? And what was the reaction from the twins and family when you sat in the wrong lap?

The one I sat on was married, the whole family began laughing and Larry just sat there grinning. His wife told me I could have him as she laughed.

My sister-in-law was shocked to discover she was pregnant. Having not seen a period for two years she thought all that was behind her.
But when the midwife said: "Push again, it's twins," she replied: "I only wanted one." They were known as mirror twins, it means that in the womb only one heartbeat can be heard.
That shock is now shared. We have been invited to one of those twin's daughter's 30th birthday party. Hell's bells, where did the years go?

There's more to mirror image twins besides synchronized heartbeat till Mom is well along in labor. Often their hair will swirl in opposite directions (generally more noticeable in boys as they grow up cause often kept shorter) hand dominance may be opposite, and their learning modes different.

My sons are mirror image twins and a delivery room surprise, tho my husband had asked about it at a checkup a week before. Because it was the Doc's first set he didn't know about the synchronized heartbeats either.

I raised them to be more conscious of their individuality than their twinness. They never thought it amusing to 'fool' people. They do (now 50 yrs old have lived in different states since once went into Navy in January 1995) however, have twin telepathy. My daughter who is 8 years younger never had a problem distinguishing them in person, but has to analyze photos to be sure which they're of.

When my married son O, was engaged to his wife that whole family liked him, one of his fiance's toddler nephews adored him. My other son, S, came for visit and we all went to the soon to be in-laws house for a gathering. When the nephew who adored O arrived O was in the another room while S was talking to other family members in living room. The nephew got excited and ran toward S, but stopped 3-4 ft away, got a disappointed look on his face and muttered "Not O." as he turned away.

My great grandmother was a twin. My grandmother was twin. She had two daughters who were twins, and one those twins had twin boys.

I think I'd have shied away from the prospect of dating a twin, if both women were living in the same town.

I do remember an episode in a BC village of about 700 people. There was a guy, Rathy, a talented singer & guitar player, who had married a woman originally from Australia, and they had a daughter. Rathy's wife had an identical twin sister who also lived in the village. I could never tell them apart.

Well, Rathy had a roving eye, and while his child was still quite young, his eye drifted to his wife's twin sister. An affair ensued, and so did an upheaval among the three — Rathy, his wife and her twin sister. ( The marriage didn't last too long after that.)

Where I live is a hotspot for identical twins, and we have a pair of identical girls living right next door. They are either 10 or 11 years old, and have just started secondary school. I feel sorry for whoever their first boyfriends will be in a few years time, because they're a pair of horrors. The neighbour on our other side used to childmind them when they were younger, and she told us the two of them would gang up on whoever else was being childminded, and bully them mercilessly. A right little tag team!

Just as a musician. I believe he toured throughout BC. Probably heard him on CBC Vancouver too.

Interesting, Jules. I made an attempt to camouflage his identity by slightly misspelling his name. I know he relocated to the coast, probably Vancouver but maybe Victoria.

I dated an identical twin. Both were blondes and very good looking. Like so many others, they pulled the switch on me and it almost worked, except the girl I was dating had a small tattoo on the back of her neck, which I noticed the girl I was with did not. I noticed the missing tattoo as we were going out the door and she was in front of me. I suddenly stopped and said 'Hey wait a minute.' They knew then that jig was up.
