ON DIRT.....nothing like a 500 HP rollerskate...But, What's really fun is going over 100 mph in a wingless sprint car along with 25 others, and then having to turn left.![]()
Oh, man, this commercial brought tears to my eyes when I first watched it.You guys have prolly seen this from a few years ago
I get a kick out of it ever time I see it
(gotta be a spoof, but Jeff Gordon did a great job of acting)
Hey win231: Check out the wide, low-profile tires. How would you like to be on a track with a 30-degree bank on the curves doing about 185 mph? If you were in this car on that type of track, I doubt if you would even notice it. If this car was on a NASCAR track, it would be a waste because you could never get the speed up to what the car is capable of with its 1600 hp engine.Let's cut to the chase and see a real mean machine. Yes, so true about the tires...we did "road racing" in the old days...belonged to a club and had a 427/435 hp Vette. We had the slicks on for rain and the tread on for hot pavement. In those days the tires cost more than you could buy a good used car for!The fastest I ever drove in a car was 125 mph. Back in the '70's I restored a '65 250S Benz I got for $3,000 from a plastic surgeon. Around 2am on an empty freeway, I got it up to 125 before I got scared. One of my passengers stood up & stuck half of him out of the sunroof.
By the way, I have a suggestion for anyone thinking of going that fast. The tires on regular passenger cars are not "Speed Rated" for speeds over 90 mph due to heat buildup; they can explode. That's why you'll notice fast cars have very wide tires - to dissipate the heat for sustained high speeds over 90.

That's so cool!We used to put on cheater slicks back in the day. They were great for racing because we had more rubber on the road and still did well on wet roads. Some people our age still use cheater slicks on their car that they have restored.
They should have finished removing the wrapping from the back of the car before photographing it.Let's cut to the chase and see a real mean machine. Presenting the Bugatti Chiron:
