Ever go 100 mph in a car?

But, What's really fun is going over 100 mph in a wingless sprint car along with 25 others, and then having to turn left.:eek:
ON DIRT.....nothing like a 500 HP rollerskate...
Over 100 in a Car.... in several different cars over the years....
Over 100 on a Motorcycle.... Yesterday.. LOL...
I have always been around racing, 20 years ago we got involved with Land Speed Racing Motorcycles....
Basically the 1000 CC production record at Bonneville that had been held by HD for years.... We did take it back....
But that led to our son and daughter both racing....
Her fastest speed 134 MPH in an S-10 pick-up....
Our Son has set records over 200 MPH at 4 different events... On Motorcycles...
His fastest pass in Loring Maine... Made him 7th fastest in the world on a sit on bike...

If you note.... He was at 100 in 1st gear

You guys have prolly seen this from a few years ago
I get a kick out of it ever time I see it
(gotta be a spoof, but Jeff Gordon did a great job of acting)

Oh, man, this commercial brought tears to my eyes when I first watched it.

Let's cut to the chase and see a real mean machine. Presenting the Bugatti Chiron:

Hey win231: Check out the wide, low-profile tires. How would you like to be on a track with a 30-degree bank on the curves doing about 185 mph? If you were in this car on that type of track, I doubt if you would even notice it. If this car was on a NASCAR track, it would be a waste because you could never get the speed up to what the car is capable of with its 1600 hp engine.

Well, if anyone has a spare $3mil bucks, this car could be yours.

The fastest I ever drove in a car was 125 mph. Back in the '70's I restored a '65 250S Benz I got for $3,000 from a plastic surgeon. Around 2am on an empty freeway, I got it up to 125 before I got scared. One of my passengers stood up & stuck half of him out of the sunroof.
By the way, I have a suggestion for anyone thinking of going that fast. The tires on regular passenger cars are not "Speed Rated" for speeds over 90 mph due to heat buildup; they can explode. That's why you'll notice fast cars have very wide tires - to dissipate the heat for sustained high speeds over 90.
Yes, so true about the tires...we did "road racing" in the old days...belonged to a club and had a 427/435 hp Vette. We had the slicks on for rain and the tread on for hot pavement. In those days the tires cost more than you could buy a good used car for!

We used to put on cheater slicks back in the day. They were great for racing because we had more rubber on the road and still did well on wet roads. Some people our age still use cheater slicks on their car that they have restored.

That's so cool!

Had to bring back this post as it shows a friend of mine qualifying at Terre Haute back in 2014. Just take a ride along and see what 120 feels like on dirt. Warning, turn the volume down because, it's loud. Sure wish we had in cars camera's back when I was doing this.
