Ever Just Go For A Drive In The Night

Sure seems more inconsiderate drivers these days, drive around at night with their lights on bright and refuse to dim.
But the worst part to me is the annoyance of more bugs squished on the windshield at night.
The daylight sun seems to help drive the bugs away ... until nightfall

Couple of weeks ago and out with Ruby the Jeep, a deer almost ran INTO THE SIDE of the Jeep !!!
It was able to stop at the last second. Had the deer been in front of the Jeep, things may have gotten ugly fast.
... and it happened IN TOWN ... but near a small clustered tree stand and bushes on the edge of a field.

I used to love driving at all hours. Now I avoid driving at night because thanks to LASIK back in 2005, and age, my night vision is quite poor. I was cautioned before the LASIK was performed that it would eventually impair my night vision, and I accepted that risk.

That said, a couple of the posts on here brought this song to mind. ;)

Actually, that's the result of LED headlights. Not ignorant drivers. Now if properly aimed (slightly right) it usually doesn't cause problems. But few people try to align them properly.

I agree though, it does suck. I'm now looking around for a green or blue coated plastic I could flip down when having them oncoming.

Anyone remember those things? We had 3 of them. Rarely needed, but so useful. Wasn't it RonCo products?

I think the last time I drove at night just for the heck of it was at Christmastime quite a few years back when I had a convertible. I took my mother to dinner with the top down, then drove around so she could see Christmas lights. I drove at night pretty frequently with the top down when I owned convertibles. No feeling quite like it.

I completely agree. AND the thing is with the popularity of LED and OEM equipment on many new vehicles ... some modders are upgrading older headlamp systems with LED ... Bad Bad Bad. The reflector configurations of OEM LED is different from the reflector configurations of older vehicles. LED in an older vehicle will just blind oncoming traffic.

Because you can never be too sure. Mason, wandered out to put eyeballs on Ruby Jeep and Candy White to ensure they weren't slipping off into the night again. Candy White is the color of the VW Passat ... but also her porn name.

At a combined age of 35yrs, the girls aren't going anywhere. Ruby is 22 and Candy, 13.

... they still look pretty good for their age and sprint around without a hitch in their giddyup. Named the Jeep Liberty, Ruby, because years ago I put wheels on her from a Jeep Rubicon. Had the girls so long, they're like family.

So it was the boy dog slipped behind a stump so's no one could see him lick his nose. EWwww.
As we began to enjoy a Jasmine scented enchanting Easter evening in the sanctuary here on the corner of Walk 'n Don't Walk.

Ruby and Candy sit patiently listening to the roads and byways scream for them to share enjoyment. Amen ~~~

I have a "brush guard" on my Jeep. Got it partially because I intended to do more mountain driving and wanted to help prevent a deer from totaling my jeep or me. I have a small rock glider on the side which helps prevent small cars from banging my side doors in the parking lot. I really want some Mad Max side armor.

EXCELLENT !!!
I have rock rails on the sides of the Jeep Liberty 4X4 mall crawler :ROFLMAO:
Also have skid plates and a cage around the gas tank.
In front, in addition to a couple of tow hooks, I installed a hidden hitch trailer hitch.
Just another tow or winch point.
I feel pretty dang safe in that Jeep with all the extra steel.

At the moment realized I should be driving instead of pointing a loaded camera around

Here in Aussieland we call them Bull Bars or Boing Bars, if you hit a kangaroo the sound goes "BBBBBoooooing_" I must admit I've never hit any animals in my life.

I try not to drive at night as a courtesy to the public. I have very very bad night blindness. One of the benefits of being old.
I dont want to be one of those oldies who wont admit their limitations and takes out pedestrians on the sidewalk.

Actually I only like to go out for Dr appointments, getting my hair done, and food. Im nesting. :D

I had the "pleasure" a few times in the good old U of K to night drive on the then newish motorways - they had just become fashionable - and I was wanting to drive from the south of england to the north - only takes an few hrs!! - even stopped off for a coffee and sandwich at one of the new "all night cafes" gross food and drink but immaculate service - those were the days my friend - we thought they'd never end!!
