Everything Horsies

A bit of history from my hometown.

Winner 1918 Kentucky Derby (30-1 odds)

1922 Horse Of The Year

American Thoroughbred Hall of Fame

Broome County Hall of Fame

His owner was Willis Sharpe Kilmer from Binghamton, NY, a local businessman. He stabled him on Riverside Drive Binghamton.

Rugged & lanky, he was consistent, amazingly winning 50 races from 99 lifetime starts.

He became known as one of the most successful racehorses in history.

Nicknamed "Old Bones", a match race between him & Man O War seemed to agree, but it never took place.

The chestnut gelding ran until 9 years old.

May 30, 1915 – September 26, 1945

His final resting place is at Whispering Pines, Garner Road, above Ross Park Zoo

Oh wow @katlupe ! Your latest photo reminds me of the scenery and the pond on the Hallmark series “The Way Home”.

It’s a pond that only lets certain people time travel backward and only lets them go where it wants them to go. Not at all Hallmark-ish but it thankfully has a big enough following that it’s been renewed for Season 4 in 2026.

I see it is available on YT.
