Ewwwwww Levon How Could You?

I know Levon is a hunter. Unlike some of our other furry meat loaves that will watch a mouse skitter under the couch...then wash a paw and roll over back to sleep. During the summer we had to warn anyone cutting across the lawn " Watch out for dead things!". Birds, rodents, the odd snake...but a few minutes ago I was out in the dark by my car. Levon was on the front lawn. He looked up at me and gave a welcome chirp, then looked at the bush and pounced. I couldn't see what, but he looked at me again with something large and furry in his mouth. Probably the neighbors Pomeranian:0

Oh for the record, Levon is a ginger tabbie. Slight build...he doesn't weigh more than 7 pounds, but quite the mighty hunter. I feel for him though. He'll look so proud and you take his trophy down to throw in the sewer..." Wait you stupid human, do you know how long it took for me to drag that to the front steps? And I saved you the best parts too!"

Levon
Levon likes his mousies
He kills a lot they say
Spends his days hunting
In the garage and the motorway ...

I used to have that framed...the Kliban cats, perfect!!!!...actually Levon came from Levon Helm. I loved The Band. Sophie's " Government name" is Ophelia "...where have you gone...?"

I used to have a dog that would proudly bring me gifts of dead things -- pigeons, mice, etc. EEEWWWW! He always looked so proud and triumphant bringing them to me -- probably broke his heart that I took them away and chucked them.

I wonder what our furry friends think when we do that? It's like getting a Xmas present from Grandma and throwing it away in front of her ... I know she wasn't pleased when I did that. :(

My kitty that I used to have, Leo, a brown tabby, used to hunt the great autumn leaves, and meow loudly at the door and deposit a large maple leaf at my feet. What a sweetie he was.
