What is it with these men in power who seek to exploit young people trying to break into acting, modeling and the music business?! Then to go as far as trafficking!! There are a lot of sickos out here, even rich ones. It's not like they need more money, they're already quite wealthy.
Former Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries arrested on sex trafficking charges

I think they've been investigating him for a while. When I clicked on the article I remembered that horrible plastic surgery. Probably to appear younger to his victims. :(

I was told that the FBI can be investigating a person or people for years before charges are brought. They want to make sure they gather all the evidence they can. Meanwhile, these sick SOBs think they've gotten away with something.

I don't think I've ever bought anything from Abercrombie & Fitch, but 60 years ago they were the Sacks 5th Avenue of sporting goods. Their clothing attire was mostly about fishing vests, and hiking boots. I didn't realize they went in the direction of high fashion. It doesn't sound right. They were known for their fishing rods and reels.

great question. I asked an AI that gives refences to it's sources ( if neccessary )...good info on this subject. perplexity.ai

"Historical focus: You're correct that Abercrombie & Fitch was originally known for high-quality outdoor and sporting goods, including fishing equipment and outdoor clothing.
  1. Bankruptcy and acquisition: The company filed for bankruptcy in 1976 and was subsequently acquired by Oshman's Sporting Goods
    2. Shift in strategy: After the acquisition, the company began to move away from its traditional outdoor and sporting goods
    focus.

    3. Rebranding under The Limited: In 1988, The Limited (now L Brands) acquired Abercrombie & Fitch and repositioned it as a fashion brand targeting young adults
    4. New direction: Under The Limited's ownership, Abercrombie & Fitch transformed into a clothing retailer focused on casual wear and fashion for younger consumers, particularly teenagers and young adults
    5. Marketing approach: The company adopted a provocative marketing strategy, including sexualized advertising and a focus on an idealized "preppy" aesthetic

This transformation explains why your recollection of Abercrombie & Fitch as a high-end sporting goods retailer differs from its more recent image as a fashion brand. The change in ownership and strategic direction in the late 1970s and 1980s led to a complete overhaul of the company's product line and target market, moving it away from its original focus on outdoor and sporting equipment to become a fashion retailer."

Part of the problem with these long & big investigations is that they are purposely made that way by choice. Sometimes arresting and prosecuting someone on lesser charges and penalties might do the trick.

Too many prosecutors want that big press conference with photos, flow charts, diagrams etc for their ego and careers. They seek the attention a high profile trial brings as do many defense attorneys.

One sees this at the local level with the drug culture. I don't care if a dealer only gets a year if enough are arrested early on it might benefit the neighborhood and the dealer because their record will show a lower level criminal.

Problem with prosecuting them on lesser charges is that they'd get out sooner (or escape jail time at all) which means they'd be back doing their evil sooner.

I'm not following. Why would we want the dealers to benefit at all?

The idea it takes years before they make an arrest .... how do they feel about the young people being abused ....until they feel they have either a slam dunk or will be a career maker with press.... collateral damage?
I no longer feel the FBI or other investigations are doing a very good job.....
This guy had a reputation for this yet somehow there is a stream of people still lined up..... what thinking they would be the exception?

I saw something on Facebook the other day with a fellow saying how disgusted he is on hearing Diddy abusing a 9-year-old boy, and why didn't the people knowing about this go to the police,
exactly.....instead of listening to those who claim after the fact they knew or expected .
They do all the interview rounds sure they are paid for interviews.
They should be outed as an enabler, for keeping the secret.... letting innocents walk into the lions den.
