Hi, I'm Dave, 72 years old (soon to be 73) Anglo-American. Amateur guitar player and builder. Interested in health and fitness. I 'ride' a Schwinn IC4 exercise bike 3 times per week, and train (moderately) with weights twice per week. I try to eat healthily, most of the time, but I also enjoy lunching at restaurants with friends at least once per week.

Welcome. Do you build hollow body acoustics , or slab electric solid body guitars? I have seen a few DIY Stratocaster kits on line that you can build at home, which include all of the parts, electrics, and internal guts.

In any case, take a wander around here, there are lots of people from various parts of the world here. JIMB> In Toronto.

Solid body electrics. Purchase body and neck, so it's probably better described as assembly, rather than build. All the hardware I source from various online retailers. Although my latest 'build' is a fender strat body with a Gibson style neck. this involved extensive re-routing of the neck cavity to suit. I also filled in most other cavities in the body to eliminate the pickguard. I hope this isn't too 'technical' for this forum. 😊

I don't know much of anything about that subject, but it's a very interesting post you wrote, Dave.

If you ever get the chance to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in Cleveland , Ohio, you will find it amazingly interesting. Imagine a whole section devoted to the guitar super star Les Paul ? I never realized how many US patents he held, for guitar effects, amplifiers, and multiple loop recorders. His studio and laboratory have been re-created in their entirety at the Hall. JIMB>

Welcome, @tchewtch ☺️ I've never been an instrument builder or repair person, but I have a close friend who is (he lives in Victoria, BC). I do play some guitar.

I've had one of these (Martin D28) for many years...

Decades ago, I owned one of these, and an amp too. Gibson SG. I needed money at one point and sold the SG.

There are other musicians here, experienced and skilled ones. Most SF members love music of one sort or another.
