Existence, Non-Existence, Suffering and Jesus

I have come to believe that our creators were a sperm cell and an egg cell. I believe we usually have a great time growing up and living as young adults. As we age suffering starts to overwhelm us and in the end we finally cease to exist and all pain and suffering disappear. I believe that the final entry into non-existence is viewed by most as Jesus coming to take us to Heaven. Heaven = NON-existence!

As long as we are alive, we will never know.
As a Humanist, I believe in compassion, ethics, science, and nature. Four things I can see the value of. After that, we face what happens or doesn't happen. No need to fret over it. If there is nothing after this life, we won't exist to suffer from it. If there is something, it's a new adventure.
Relax and enjoy what we can, in this life.

Like Mr. Ed i've come to very different conclusion, but that is partly due to my feeling that the age related physical aches and pains i have now are mere discomforts when i think of emotional pain i suffered when younger. But i know many seniors have a good deal more physical difficulties than i do and some carry emotional burdens as well, so i can't fault anyone for their conclusions as long they don't expect me to agree.

There is an infinite number of galaxies, sun systems, planets and species. We are totally unimportant. When we cease to exist, the only things left are photos and memories of others. The sperm cell and egg cell DNA also totally ceases to exist at the end.

I think we are vitally important, each one of us. From cosmic dust we were made and to cosmic dust we will return. It is what keeps the world turning, our cosmos churning and our universe surviving, in my humble opinion.: )

I have no idea what the future holds, but I still cling to my beliefs and opinions.

I believe that some degree of pain is unavoidable, but suffering is usually of our own making.

Suffering occurs in response to thoughts such as: “Why me?!” “It isn’t fair!” “This is horrible!”.

I like the perspective of actress Zelda Rubinstein’s psychic character in the movie Poltergeist that there is no death, but only transition. I’m on board with that, but if she’s wrong, it won’t matter as I won’t have consciousness to perceive it…

As an atheist, I agree with Mitch86, although he is a little harsh in discussing his views. What amazes me is that 50 years ago, the religiously minded would have totally swamped this forum with replies. Today, if one does not believe in God/afterlife; it's no big deal. Thankfully, we understand that we can't impose our beliefs on others. You are free to choose the path you want- whatever that is.

One thing I do believe is that you don't go to He^L when you die. I believe while you are alive you are living in He^L. Where else could you feel more pain than living, loving, and losing loved ones. To me there is no greater pain.
