Facebook Is Seeking Bank Account Information

If I ever found one of our banks giving information to Facebook, or any of these Lame Social Media sites, I would quickly change banks. This sounds like another good reason to avoid social media.

I'm kind of sick of Facebook and have never really been into it. I have about 15 friends. It's a good way to stay in a loose contact with former co-workers etc and post the ocassional cat picture. But I could take it or leave it. I hate how some post every detail of their lives.

I have a facebook account. I got it to keep up with my scattered family. However, I have been trying to delete my facebook account for several months and so far been unsuccessful. T\Facebook makes it really hard to delete one's account. Even so, if I didn't want to delete my account I certainly would not want any bankinginfrmation on there.

No way would I ever use FB as a portal to anything else especially financial! I like it to follow a couple of special interest groups & a couple of friends sometime post pix. I would miss that but not so much that I wouldn't pull the plug if anything creepy happened .

"A Facebook spokeswoman said the company could see some financial information from such users if they choose to opt-in," I will not opt-in so I am not worried. I use FB to keep in touch with family and close friends.

I feel like a real dummy about this, but can someone please explain to me how Facebook even fits into the picture? I've always thought of Facebook as being a social media website, for posting
pictures and friendly comments. How do they get involved in someone's bank account?

Also, I never understand what it means when I want to buy something online, and it gives me the option of "buy through Facebook." I never check that option (probably a good thing), but I really
don't understand what it means. Is it something like buying through Amazon? Except that in order to do that, you have to be on Amazon's web site to begin with, when you're ordering the item. The Facebook thing seems to turn up no matter how I navigated to the product, which is never through Facebook.

Help, please?
