With real criminals, adults, going about unhampered by police, this action is about as bad as it gets. What do you think? imp

, R.I. (AP) — A third-grader was taken off a school bus and questioned for hours by police because another girl falsely reported the 8-year-old had chemicals in her backpack, her family said in a lawsuit Thursday.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Rhode Island, which filed the federal lawsuit against the town of Tiverton, compared the case to that of a Texas teenager who was arrested for bringing a homemade clock to school in September. The group said such actions terrorize and traumatize children.

I don't blame the parents for suing. The cops, after finding nothing in this little girl's backpack, should have ended it right there. Arresting her by taking her away in a squad car is beyond ridiculous. What's happening here in America, is everyone going insane?

The article quoted one of the attorneys as saying the kids were terrified at the Station. No doubt! Some mental picture of the experience will weigh upon them, perhaps for years. I feel sorry for them. But, even sorrier for the fact that these events are brought on by Police no longer using any tiny bit of tact, finesse, or human emotion. imp

Where do they find these misfits? They are not fit to deal with the public.

Shal, whaddaya expect on our "Worst Coast"? Crowdedest living conditions, highest population density, thus, great impetus of free-loaders, miscreants, chronically homeless (only in summer months, they go to Phoenix in winter), druggies, welfare malingerers. The "hiring pool" for police forces?

Think about it. imp
