I still call them pocketbooks.

Wow...that's a pukey color but the purse matches perfectly!

Love the orange (reply #24) but how annoying it would be to carry that thing around all day.

The handbags posted here are interesting, cute, fun and lovely but I don't like using a purse I can't throw over my shoulders. Of course the dressy bags don't have shoulder straps.

The collage bag is being sold on Amazon for $37.80. My sister has an Obama bag but I don't think it's the same design as that one.

One of my 90 yr old clients had one of these and it was a prized possession!

The handbag (purse) I use most is a nice-looking red Joy & Iman plastic bag that holds a lot of stuff. Why? Because it rains a lot here. And then there's the snow. Had to put my leather Coach bag away.

I learned the hard way. Got a really expensive lambs leather bag ruined in the rain after it was only a week old.. so now I only take leather bags out in good weather, and fake leather out in the rain

If I could figure out why I can't seem to be able to post photos, I'd post my favorite purse....it's made out of a real armadillo, rolled up. One of my sisters bought it for me in Mexico many years ago.

It was very handy during my daughter's teenage years when she'd want to wear something totally inappropriate for the occasion and I'd say "OK, no problem. Let me get my armadillo purse...." That would take care of it right there.

I also had a purse made from a HUGE toad (also from Mexico), but succumbed to the pleas from a young relative and gave it to her ( see.... SOME people "get" me....)

My vintage (40's) large genuine alligator clutch purse with a small real alligator on the front? I sold it for an obscene amount of money. There are others like me out there.....

Excellent idea. Actually, my red Joy & Iman* red bag does look like leather.

*David Bowie's widow. I think I got it on HSN (Home Shopping Network) or the other similar website.
