I would definitely use this handbag!

If I could figure out why I can't seem to be able to post photos, I'd post my favorite purse....it's made out of a real armadillo, rolled up. One of my sisters bought it for me in Mexico many years ago.

It was very handy during my daughter's teenage years when she'd want to wear something totally inappropriate for the occasion and I'd say "OK, no problem. Let me get my armadillo purse...." That would take care of it right there.

I also had a purse made from a HUGE toad (also from Mexico), but succumbed to the pleas from a young relative and gave it to her ( see.... SOME people "get" me....)

My vintage (40's) large genuine alligator clutch purse with a small real alligator on the front? I sold it for an obscene amount of money. There are others like me out there.....

So far as I know, "pocketbook" was not a West Coast USA term. At least, not in California.
My mother lived in Jersey after being a transplant from South Carolina. She said pocketbook. I used the term for a while but sometimes use purse. Mostly now it's "tote", however because I use large bags to carry my lots of stuff.

I don't have a handbag - but I do have 5 camera bags :)

This is my trusty old Billingham 335. Made in England using waterproof canvas, brass and leather. It's a thing of beauty :) Also has a lifetime guarantee. I bought it used about 20 years ago for £85. It's looking nicely worn now. Current price now is just over £400
