Father is not available so try mentors!

Attitude? No attitude, just come to recognizing the situation for what is, no longer the white person's burden. BTW, the officer shot by the black criminal in NYC has died, but I don't see any rioting over this...

White person's burden? I thought that died with Kipling. Perhaps we should agree to disagree, lest you become filled with righteous indignation and shoot me. This little Canadian is unarmed, and afraid of guns.:love_heart:

Please note that I didn't say the white man's burden so as not to offend the delicate sensibilities of this forum. And you probably know kickboxing or something so you don't need a gun...

No, but I don't think the the white guilt thing for slavery should be milked any longer. By around 2030 the combined black and Hispanic population will be in the majority and we shall see how their middle class deals with inner cities...

Very true.. People tend to thumb their noses at the concept of "White Privilege".. always citing how they worked their way through school... didn't have anything "given to them"... and feeling quite superior about it. But White Privilege exists... it is very real, despite some not believing it. Being born White, no matter what the circumstances, is like being born on 1st base (to use a baseball analogy).... being born in the poverty of the Black inner city underclass, is comparable to the locker room.. and many don't even make it to the parking lot.

Then, you have the Wealthy, who are generally born of 3rd base... and think they hit a triple!

White Privilege is very real Ralphy..

But we have a black president! How did that happen? Things have changed but the problem of the inner city lingers...

So THAT is your rebuttal against the fact the White Privilege exists? "We have a Black President?

The fact remains.. if you are born White, no matter how poor, doors will open to you faster and sooner than if you were born a poor Black, no matter how hard the Black person works.

Things have changed when you note all of the black public officials, educators, entertainers, etc., and they are really going to change when the whites are no longer the majority. Today, however, a black middle class child will reach parity in opportunity by adulthood...

Oh Ralphy... that is very naive. Whites may no longer be in the so called Majority, number wise. BUT you are forgetting that the majority of the wealth and therefore power, is held by a VERY small number of people.. that being the Billionaire class.. THEY are White Ralphy.. and their money will be duly passed along to their White heirs. It's gonna be a very long time for power and opportunity to be equal... despite the numbers.

Come the revolution everything changes quickly.

Perhaps, but until it does, I see a decent of the White working class into poverty along with Blacks.. not an elevation of Blacks to the level of the White middle class. Not with all the money and power at the top. I have to wonder though.. How a revolution can occur with the Military and police in the pockets of the wealthy ruling class..

There are enough intelligent blacks and Hispanics that know how the power structure works and how to change it thru the ballot box...

Have you forgotten about Citizen's United, and how elections are now purchased by 14 Billionaires? It's going to be very hard to change the status quo when so many people are uninformed, and get their opinions made for them in 30 second sound bites.

The numbers will eventually win out with perhaps the wealthy Oprah types financing the change...

I so applaud your efforts. :)
